I USED to LOVE this place until today. Food was not fresh at all. It was cold and stale. Cachapas were hard, cheese was hard. Yuck!…

After reading some of the bad reviews posted here, I was a little hesitant about this restaurant but decided to give it a try anyways…I’m glad I did!! Went there with my family for breakfast. We tried all the empanadas, tequeos, and cachapas. They were all really good! The cazn and the cheese empanadas were my favorites. The tequeos were great with the delicious salsa verde and a marroncito coffee on the side…excellent. The service was fast and courteous and the restaurant was nice and clean. I have NO idea what those bad reviews are about. If you are in the Weston area, you must try this caf. A nice piece of Venezuela in the US!!
Sorry but… it’s bad. Ok so my wife and I we were looking to eat some real Venezuelan food for quite a while (She is from Venezuela I’m from Ecuador but i’ve been to Venezuela a couple of times). I google for a place around Sunrise and Cafe Canela came out. So we decided to try it out. We both ordered carne mechada, caraotas, platano dulce and rice. WOW it was so bad that my wife got really mad because to her it was like an insult. The beans and beef had no flavor whatsoever and the rice was this piece of mass that was really hard to swallow. It was sooo bad that we ended drinking the Freskolita and going to the chinese place next door.
Bad service, expensive. Worst service ever. No need to pay so much to try my Venezuelan food, price of flour with 3 or 4oz of cheese (cheese arepa) isnt that high so this guys charge so much. The site is a hole. Sorry for these guys they wont be in business for long specialy if someone opens a good Latin place to eat nearby.
Excellent Food. I read some reviews from Nov 2009, which seem to be written by the same person with different screen names with the intention to harm the good name of this very nice restaurant. I have been a customer for many years, and I find the place to be clean and the food to be of excellent quality, pricing is reasonable, and the attention is personal and courteous. I highly recommend Cafe Canela, to people who wish to taste the true Venezuelan taste.I Give Cafe Canela a big Thumbs-Up!
Awful service. If you ever want to experience overdue food and disrespectul treatment to patrons that do not represent the great quality of venezuelan food and friendly environment qualities of venezuelan people this is the place to go.After indicating respectfully that a side (rice) was acid and the owner acknowledged to not charge for the plate he comes up with the unusual decision to give a partial credit for the entree -never experienced this before. as if one this does not go with the other n the same plate and then shouting unappropriate remarks to the customers and even following them to the exit door.My advise to all venezuelan living nearby is to refrain to go to this place. This place is Terrible. We had lunch at this place and the food was spoiled. We called the owner and quietly explained the issue and he said he wouldn’t chrge for the dish. He not only charged us full price but he started yelling at us and screaming how he thought the food was fine and how he couldn’t care less if he lost his customers. The food in unbeliavably expensive and old….the rice, tequenos and asado negor are all re-heated from previous days. Yuch !!
