Good, simple southern cooking. For the price point, I kind of expected a little better on certain things. I didn’t eat the desserts but from gazing at their cookbook that they sell, I feel that cake mix may be involved. And the bun for the po-boy was a sad looking sub bun. The chicken and waffles were good but the chicken was cooked a little too dry. I would eat here again if I was in the area but I don’t think I’d make the trip out just for that purpose. Oh, and super bad coffee. Or should I say, coffee flavored water.

Great Lunch!. I really can’t say enough good stuff about this place. Great atmosphere, charm, great food, friendly people. It’s a small dining room and you sit next to your neighbor and make friends. It’s like someone invited you into their home for dinner 80 years ago.
True Southern. My wife and I have meant to come here for years and we are finally back in the area. We went for dinner. I had the Low Country Shrimp and Grits, rich and really good. My wife had the Crispy Baked Chicken and was tempted to lick her plate clean when done. Really good, really rich, true Southern food. I have no idea how we would have room for dessert, but the choices looked really good.
Lunch. Eight of us ladies went for lunch today from our village. I had cold berry, wine soup it was very good. Also had chicken salad on a croissant. Price was reasonable. Will go back.
Very nice restaurant!. Most of the time you need reservations, but we stopped on a chance we could get in. We had never been there and we got in for dinner! Very fancy and unique! Tablecloths, china and actual sterling silverware! It used to be the bank built back in 1905. Even the restrooms are decorated with old time decor. The food is delicious! My husband had the train wreck and I had the Alabama Blackened Catfish. Grits are served with each dinner-which are so creamy, unlike any Grits I ever ate. Cole slaw was also good. The train wreck was really unusual-grits, baked beans and pork loin all together with cheese on top. My husband loved it! I love historical places and just looking at all the photos lined up in the hallway and in the dining area was fascinating. You should go to this restaurant– even if for just one time! A true southern dining experience! Be prepared to spend money…expensive! Lunch is less expensive and harder to get in- we were told a MUST with reservations. Very nice staff and excellent service. We will go back just to try some of the other unique, one of a kind meals!!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Comparable to some of the best meals I have had in New Orleans. A definite must if you’re in the area.
