Most of these reviews don’t match the Aloma Cinema grill. I have been going there since 1980. The last few times: 2013, 2014, & 2016; it truly is a horrific experience. The Manager(s) have a FU attitude. The staff have a lousy attitude (go figure). The screen is small and projection/sound system outdated. The food is like orders that someone returned or that never made it out; so they keep reheating them until someone buys them. Seriously, you could go to 711 and heat anything up in their microwave and it would taste better. The food and drinks are way over priced. The environment is cramped and dirty. The chairs and tables are old. The tickets are expensive. There are so many theaters in our area; this one should close, obviously the staff and the management don’t want to work there anymore. Moviegoers are easy going and don’t really complain; so the staff has become abusive to their patrons. Time to vote with your feet; there are a lot of places that are nice and serve beer, no need to go here.
Great PLACE for FAMILY and MOVIES. On 8/30/2014, My fiancee’ and I threw a birthday party for my soon to be step-son on his 5th birthday. He loves Marvel and Action Characters so we surprised him with a movie party at the Aloma Cinema Grill. Rebecca, the Assistant General manager who was there to help out was a great help and was very knowledgeable and helpful with ensuring our guest were comfortable and enjoying their time. The food was amazing and also they colored the cupcakes for his party blue & green without me asking or getting back with them for the color. Cheryl, Rebecca and their entire staff was truly a joy to work with and we look forward to visiting the cinema again. You guys are the best.
Great Little Place. I was in town for a convention all week, and this was the one night I had an opportunity to meet my daughter for dinner. I picked this place is as a halfway point between where I was located on I drive and where she lived in Oviedo by doing an Internet search for family restaurants Winter Park.I went to their website first, which was okay, but not great. The menu listed typical bar food fair with a few decent sounding salads thrown in that made me think this place might be something special. As is customary for me I did not read any reviews prior to arrival. We chose to see an animated flick called Hotel Transylvania on this Monday night for the 6:45 PM showing.First things first, the Cinema Grill is located in a strip center but still manages to pull off a theater feel on the outside with their marquee proclaiming their name. Stepping through the doors there are 2 ticket booths to the right. These are currently decorated heavily with Halloween memorabilia on the glass and behind the booth. There was a worker present as soon as we walked in who directed us to our theater and explained that the tickets would be paid for at the table. Having had a rather long drive to get here I first checked out the restrooms. Unlike other Cinema draft houses I have been in before, this restroom felt clean and cozy. There were no foul odors, all fixtures working properly, and it contained proper lighting. Along the walls on the way there are sorted Halloween decorations mixed in with some movie memorabilia as well. None of which was particularly cheesy, or terribly dated. The theater for this movie was located in the back of the house. There are 4 rows of tables in this theater with each table being a round deuce with 2 bucket chairs in the front and 2 bucket chairs in the back. Isles are wide and can easily accommodate a wheelchair. The screen is quite large for an establishment of this sort and I was pleasantly surprised that the movie was shown in DLP as well, impressive! We first walked in there was a table with menus placed upon it I grabbed to and let my daughter decide where we were sitting. As is customary in our family, she chose a middle row about halfway in the middle of the theater. As we settled in, we noticed the music that was playing had a bit of an echo causing me to take heed of the speakers located on the sides of the theater. Having speakers on the side means the possibility of having Dolby surround, but with that echo I was a bit nervous. Our server Erica was quick to greet us. She was quite pleasant and just like a restaurant asked what we would like to drink first. We opted for a pitcher of Dr Pepper as the pricing for an individual glasses $2.99 and refills are $1.99 with the pitcher being in at $8.59. Another server brought us our beverages practically right away and unfortunately something didnt taste right. It turned out that we were served diet Dr Pepper. When Erica came to take our order, and we informed her of the problem, she took care of it immediately. I couldnt decide whether or not I wanted a hamburger priced at $9.99 with the options of adding cheese and or bacon for $.99 each respectively or an Italian sub priced at $9.99 as well. I asked Erica which she felt was better and she chose the burger, so a cheeseburger it was. I was pleasantly surprised that this establishment did not try to overdo it with 1 million different items on their menu. I was also very pleased with the fact that they offered a healthy alternative for children and for adults in the form of grilled chicken, seafood or the special of the day. They offer popcorn as well with both a buttered and non-buttered selection. In the end after teetering over multiple choices, my daughter ordered a burger, plain.Having arrived at 6:30 PM, we still managed to get our food before the previews. However, at least for this theater the feat was not all that amazing considering there was only one other table, a 4 top family but still timing does count. The burgers are served in a basket accompanied by fries with the tops to the side. Mine, served standard, included lettuce tomato onion on top packets of mayonnaise and mustard. Also included with the meal were a small plastic ramekin of ketchup, a knife and some extra napkins. I asked for some salt-and-pepper for my fries and was served another small plastic container with small pepper packages I was unable to locate the salt as the previews had started. Unfortunately the only real negative came in the fact that no one ever really asked us how the food was. My burger was served medium and tasted fairly decent. The fries were crisp and fresh with no bad oil aftertaste, as is normally the case in divey type places that never change the oil in the fryer. Now I will tell you a bit about the movie. Fortunately when the movie started, the sound was pleasantly, crisp and clear with no echo. And, just like any of the large movie theaters, this showing had both previews and dimmed lights when the show began. Since this movie was shown in DLP there were obviously no scratches to be seen with a bulb that was fresh and bright. During the credit roll, my daughter went to use the restroom while I took care of the bill. While I was doing so I was distracted by the fact that there was a girl trying to clean and straighten the chairs that wed use during the movie for our feet directly in front of us. In addition, she was doing a rather bad job of busing my table to the point where my glare mustve scared her off. I mean she couldnt wait 5 minutes? A thing to note about the bill; this establishment because of the seating, includes the ticket price of $7.50 each adult within the bill. No big deal there of course, but then they list appropriate recommended tips of 15, 18 and 20% of the total bill. Normally you wouldnt tip on a movie by itself. Tipping for a service is of course appropriate but tipping for a product? After some thought, I went ahead and tipped on the entire amount based on the fact that the poor girl only had 2 tables for crying out loud. But consider it duly noted.Overall Id have to say I was pretty impressed with this place. Fairly decent food, a clean and homey decor and a good quality movie experience make it a place Id come back to if I was ever in the area again.
AWESOME PLACE. Awesome staff awesome service great overall experience! I go here atleast once per week everyone is super friendly and nice! I have been there over 50 times in the last year and I love it everytime i go!
Fun Theater…Great Value!. Tickets are very affordable and the atmosphere is great for kids! We saw the Avengers here with the kids and they were able to sit in the comfy chairs while they watched. The screen is smaller, but more like watching a movie back in 1985….and I loved the 80’s! The food is good and priced reasonably. Our family of four saw a movie and ate for only $40. If you are looking for a cozy, fun place to watch a movie look no further then the ACG.
You will regret watching movies here…. AVOID THIS THEATER. This is the worst theater to watch a movie. I have a better experience at a $1 movie theater with sticky floors and bad food. This theater was not designed for viewing movies. If your neck isn t aching after ruining the film, the clean up crew will definitely ruin the best film by turning all the lights on and clanging the dishes before the movie is over. When I complained the last time, the manager was rude and smug and just want the customers to pay up and leave so he can make more money faster. I use to like going to this theater, but it is getting worse. They should not be allowed to show movies here with that management. They are disrespectful to both movie goer, movie maker and the movie distributors. STAY AWAY!
