Went to Carmel for dinner last night and found it disappointing. The Caesar salad lettuce was brown around the edges, not fresh at all. The Moroccan chicken, which I have loved in the past, no longer comes with couscous but, rather, with mushy vegetables and swimming in an uninspired pool of sauce. Gone is the lemony sauce that used to be this dish’s appeal. Finally, we ordered wine but food was brought first and the wine arrived mid-meal. The food was served rapid-fire, as though the kitchen was in a rush, despite the fact that the place was half empty. All in all, not a good dining experience, in contrast to past visits.

While the outside is blocky, the inside is charming and the service is friendly and efficient. The chicken skewers were moist and flavorful. We paired it with the house salad, lobster bisque and roasted vegetables. Wonderful wine list that imcludes Moscato for the less sophisticated along with beer and cocktails. Amazing experience in Orlando. Worth the trip to Winter Park in the heart if Orlando.

A great food and social spot for all. Had the best car cakes ever, no bread filling at all only real crabmeat. Never had mashed cauliflower but would come back for that also…Service is the ultimate….making you feel welcome on a first visit….AJ and Jason are great bartenders…very sociable to the customers. atmosphere is fantastic..would recommend highly to anybody!

Visited The Carmel Cafe because of the hype I have heard about this establishment. Appetizers, beer, and wine were in par. However, the entrees were not that as satisfying as the appetizers .. My Meal had the pork belly and it was tasteless and dry like a piece of cheap pork. We where with a party of 8 and we all enjoyed the appetizers but had problems with the main courses either being too sausey and overpowering. Great place for a nice glass of wine although the selection was not the most fruitful being a wine bar. With that said the prices where higher buts it’s Winter Park although it not on the main drag.

Long wait once seated. Poor service. Meals came out at all different times. Mediocre food. Angus burger in a monstrous bun over cooked. Blah

Cheapskate restaurant- Maitland/Winter Park Location. Have frequented this establishment several times. Waitress was very efficient and the food was fine. HOWEVER, several of us ordered dirty martinis. The waitress asked if we wanted blue cheese stuffed olives (which we have always gotten when ordering dirty martinis anywhere), we said yes, please. Upon receiving our checks, we were charged $1.00 for the olives. Never had this happen before and it is so tacky. Hate being nickle and dimed. Charge what you will for the drink but to charge for olives which usually come with dirty martinis was just plain cheap. Carmel should be embarassed.

Wow. Really great food. Hostess was bitchy but waitress was very nice. The food was amazing. I had the fried chicken pita sandwich, top notch. The chicken.was very lightly fried and toppings were fresh. The seasoned fries were sooooooo good, a perfect crunch. My hubs had the crab cakes and was sorry he didn’t get the larger portion because they were the best he’s had. He had the kale on the side, and likes it very much. I hate kale but tried it anyway just because the rest of the food was so good I thought there might be a chance. But nope I still hate kale 🙂 the place was empty for lunch I hope it does well because it really deserves to stay in business.
