Incredibly disappointing experience all the way around. We had family in from out of town and choose this spot to have dinner. There were 9 of us so we made reservations in advance. The first thing which was disappointing was how they sat us. They put us at two tables next to each other, one with 6 people and the other with 3 people. This made it extremely difficult if not impossible to talk with one another. Next our server was simply awful. She took our drink order and missed 2 people in our party. When she came back she seemed upset with us that we pointed it out. Finally was the food, it was nothing special at all. I had the chicken fajita’s and they were bland and boring. In addition, this place is not cheap particularly for Mexican food. All in all our experience was very, very disappointing. There are far better Mexican restaurants then this place. We won’t be back.

Located in heart of Winter Parks lively Park Avenue, this Tex Mex is a welcome delight. Ample parking right next street (although it does get busy at peak times), Cocina 214 is quite spacious with indoor as well as patio seating with celing fans. The host and staff is quite good and tries to get all your nuances addressed. The ambiance is very satiating with right decor and lighting. BEWARE! The complimentary corn tortilla chips are served hot and are relentlessly addictive. The chips are stout enough to gorge with the fresh and tasty salsa. As with any tex mex place, do not indulge into the plenitudinous cravings and try concentrating on their nicely laid out menu. The menu has good indicators for vegeterian, vegan and glutenfree options. Ofcourse, the chef can make more adjustments per your request if feasible. The guacamole trio comes with 3 different types of guac – blue cheese, mango pineapple, and habanero. Each stood on their own, fresh and tasty. MEXICAN CORN wasa delight too. The cayenne pepper gives it a nice kick. I just tried the vegeterian food. The veggie taco came with sauted veggies, beans, cole slaw, jalapenos, citrus dressing, sliced avocado and the mind blowing verde sauce. Such an amazing combination of ingrediants leaves you speechless. Do ask for the hot sauce on the side if you are daredevil and you will be satisfied! If you are in the area and craving tex mex, you have to give this place a shot!

Delicious Breakfast Tacos. I went here a while back to meet up with some people and watch a football game. The restaurant itself wasn’t very crowded when I was there, so we received enough attention from our waiter. I wasn’t expecting to buy any food (only drinks), but when I saw the menu, I had to have the breakfast tacos. They were delicious and although they were a bit pricey for what I’m used to for tacos (I’m from Texas), I was glad I had them.

What exactly is Cocina 214 you may ask? Cocina is Spanish for Kitchen, and the 214 part comes from the Dallas area code, because the owners, who are from Texas, missed the Tex-Mex and Mexican foods they grew up on. The menu is full of contemporary Mexican and Tex-Mex inspired dishes that combine bold flavors with the freshest local ingredients. Items like Queso Fundido and Guacamole at Cocina 214 may be your average Tex-Mex standard fare, but you will be hard pressed to find Fried Avocado Bites at any other Mexican restaurant in Central Florida. The same goes with the rest of the menu here too. Items like Snapper Frito Tacos, Truffle and Mushroom Quesadillas, Cauli Frito Tacos and Corn Crusted Mahi are sure to impress the adventurous palate. If you want more traditional, Cocina has that too, with Chicken Tamales, Brisket Quesadilla and an assortment of Tacos and Fajitas. Fried Avocado Bites are lightly breaded hass avocados fried and served with chipotle cream dipping sauce, and are very delicious. The Mango Ceviche features snapper, serrano peppers, red onion, red bell pepper, citrus and mango. For something a little lighter, Isidros Caesar salad is made with romaine lettuce, cotija cheese, fried onions strings, grape tomatoes, homemade croutons and Caesar dressing. The Mexican Corn is a tasty Aperitivo, or appetizer with grilled corn, cayenne pepper, lime, cotija cheese and queso fresco. The Dragon Fruit Margarita is sweet and flavorful, and is only available for a limited time. The margarita menu at Cocina 214 features everything from house made specialties to Skinny Ritas and even a Pop Rocks Rita.Enchiladas are served Mexican-style with romaine lettuce, queso fresco, onions, sour cream, grape tomatoes & veggie rice. You can add protein to them such as chicken or beef and you have an option of sauces as well.Snapper Frito Tacos are traditional Mexican street tacos with lightly fried wild snapper topped with coastal slaw, pico de gallo and a chipotle cream sauce. For an awesome vegetarian option, the Cauli Frito tacos are lightly fried cauliflower, coastal slaw, red bell peppers and chipotle cream sauce. These tacos were crispy and tasty and had a great taste.Another item not readily found at most Mexican restaurants, the Snapper Veracruz with wild snapper, tomato, olive, caper, herb topping and veggie rice was quite delightful. orlandotastes.com
