Hamilton’s is contemporary dining with a beautiful back patio. I recommend going for breakfast/brunch and to the bar in the evening for cocktails. Make sure to check out the art work hanging around the Alfond Inn while you are there.
Killer Chocolate Cake, Key Lime Cheesecake, McAllen 12 Pudding and Salted Chocolate Toffee. I died 10 May, 2015Country Ham Mac’n’cheese. Amazing!
Horrible service. Tried this restaurant for the first time about a year ago and the food was mediocre and fish was definetely not fresh.Retried it today since we had heard the chef had changed, service was the worst I have ever experienced! We dine out a lot, travel alot and try different places and never have I had such a bad waiter. First of all many wines were out (at least 5-6 off the menu) as well as 3 appetizers and a side. Second the waiter was very rude and inconsiderate throughout the whole meal. The food was much better than last time but not out of the ordinary.
We tried to have breakfast here one morning at 11am, but were told that they stopped serving breakfast at 10am and that lunch wasn’t available until 1130am. It’s crazy for a restaurant, let alone a high-end hotel restaurant, to not accept customers in late morning. The GM of this place needs to wake up.
Annoying service, mediocre. My vegetable dish consisted of quinoa and some tasty broccolini. It was supposed to come with beets and kale. Could not find the kale. The chef smeared my plate with a beet, but that was the only sign of a beet. The waiter was annoyingly insincere with abundant flattery that bordered on obnoxious. I hope to hear of improvements in the future as the concept behind the restaurant and hotel is excellent.
Beautiful space, wonderful food. I grew up in WP, back when the Langford Hotel was a popular place for events. Although I moved up north long ago, my mother still lives near that site, which has undergone a tremendous transformation and is now the Alfond Inn. Mom has been taking friends and neighbors over for tours and libations. Shes been such an enthusiastic ambassadress that Deanne, the general manager has dubbed her their sales manager. So naturally, when I was down for a visit, we went over for the tour, and we tried out the restaurant, Hamiltons Kitchen. When you go for the first time, be sure to walk through the public spaces of the Inn they are impressive! As for the food Mom and I are fairly light eaters, so we each had a drink, a starter and a side. Mom had a classic martini (not on the menu but a very good one (thanks Jose!), a la James Bond), braised short ribs and charred broccolini with caramelized onions. I had a mojito, oyster rockefeller and roasted sweet potato with a jalapeno glaze. We shared the vegetables and took some home! Everything was fantastic, as was the service. And I mustnt forget the rolls! I rarely eat wheat, but for these, I made an exception. Oh. My! Fluffy, yeasty, Parker-House-y, with just the right amount of salt crystals. And smokey, delectable bacon butter! Ahhhhh, sublime. What a fabulous addition to Winter Park. Bravo to those who brought it to life and whose daily efforts make it such a gem!
Classy, High End Restaurant!. Had dinner here tonight with two friends. Hamilton’s Kitchen is a high-end restaurant that serves high-quality, farm-to-table, Floridian-inspired cuisine. It opened on Sunday, August 18, 2013. We arrived at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm reservation, with the thought of sitting at the bar for a drink first. The bar was completely packed, so we gave up on that idea and asked to be sat early. The hostess happily agreed. The six entre choices on the menu were $20, $24, $26, $32, $37, and $39 respectively. The four individual side choices ranged from $7.00 – $9.00. There were also six starter choices, ranging in price from $13.00 – $18.00.Throughout the evening, we each had three cocktails. These cocktails were fresh, inventive, and strong. The cocktails listed on the menu are $10.00 each. The martini’s listed on the menu are $12.00 each. We ordered:Cucumber Mint Gimlet – $10.00Hibiskus Lemonade – $10.00White Russian – $11.00Toasted Almond Amaretto DiSaron – $8.00For a starter, we each ordered the Kale Caesar Salad ($13.00). The salad included Olive Oil Croutons and Shaved Parmesan. It was delicious, but expensive for the portion size.We each ordered three different entres. I ordered the Pasture Prime Pork Shoulder ($26.00). It was served over Country Ham Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Carolina Mop and Farm Greens. It was delicious. If the pork was on a bone, it would have fallen right off. It was very moist and flavorful. One friend ordered the Fresh Catch (Sea Scallops with Crab Croquette, Corn Succotash, Wilted Greens, Brown Butter, and Capers ($32.00). My friend absolutely loved his meal. My other friend ordered the Black Grouper ($37.00). It was served with 5 Grain Polenta, Root Vegetables, and Orange Olive Vinaigrette. My friend loved his meal also.We also ordered dessert. The Chocolate Cake ($10.00) and Cheesecake ($12.00). They were both good, but $10.00 and $12.00 for these two items was a bit steep for the portion size. Our total for the three of us with tip was $336.24. The restaurant is beautiful, as is the bar area, hotel grounds, and the hotel itself. Our server (Jos P.) was friendly, outgoing, upbeat, and knowledgeable. A manager also came by our table on two separate occasions to see how everything was going. He asked for our honest feedback in a very genuine way. The restaurant became very busy while we were there. I actually could not believe how busy it was for a Thursday evening. Many of the tables inside and outside were occupied when we left.Due to the price point, Hamilton’s would not be a restaurant that I would frequent very often. However, I would go back for a special occasion and I would highly recommend that you give it a try. I believe it is a welcome addition to the Winter Park dining scene.Hamilton’s Kitchen is located in The Alfond Inn, a beautiful 112-room boutique hotel owned and managed by Rollins College. It is situated at the intersection of East New England Avenue and South Interlachen Avenue, just two blocks from tony Park Avenue.
