Visit 5/12/12. Had a wonderful meal.Ambiance with piano player was wonderful. Our server was exceptional.Only one glich–The Bathrooms outside–Please take a few dollars and give them some attention.
My worst dining experience to date.. This is why good restaurants go out of business! It took 15 minutes to get an initial glass of water and after another 20 minutes of no returning waiter, we just left. The waiter, host, bartender were all equally incompetent as they were rude. The bartender wouldn’t even get us water after the waiter failed to do so! The plates were dirty, the environment looked good, but what is that worth considering the service? I think the other rave ratings are phoney!
Nice Atmosphere and Ambiance. Ate here for dinner last night with two friends. I started out with the Cream of Mushroom Soup ($6.50). It was served piping hot, was a nice size, and was delicious, flavorful, and creamy. For my entree, I ordered the Chicken Paupiette. It was rolled up pieces of chicken breast stuffed with baby swiss cheese, shitake mushrooms, and bell peppers ($23.00). It was served with whipped mashed potatoes and vegetables. This too, was delicious. Make no mistake about it, Hannibal’s is expensive.I really liked the atmosphere and ambiance. The booths were incredibly comfortable (sofa-like with pillows), the soft lighting was perfect, and the decor gave it an upscale, romantic, lounge feel. They also had a live piano player performing. Our server (Antoine), who was also the bartender was a nice young French gentleman. He was slow at times, but personable and funny. The one thing I did not like was at the end of the meal. So, we arrived at 6:30pm and Antoine explained that it was happy hour until 7:00pm. He further explained that glasses of wine were $2.00 off. We proceeded to order glasses of wine (I had one and my friend had two). I was using a $25.00 restaurant.com certificate and presented this to Antoine. He brought the check, but charged us the full prices for the three glasses of wine. When we questioned this, he stated that he was unable to give us the $2.00 off for the glasses of wine because we were using a restaurant.com certificate. We took that response and paid our bill. However, I do not understand what the two have to do with each other. Whether we used the certificate or not, we should have still been entitled to the happy hour drink prices. Were we going to make a big deal over a few dollars…no, but it is the principle. It is policies like this that make people not want to return to an establishment.Hannibal’s is located in Hannibal Square at the NW corner of West New England Avenue and Hannibal Square East in downtown Winter Park.
We’ve attempted Hannibal’s twice now. The food and service were terrible. Overcooked food and horrible service. I expect much more from Vincent.
Gorgeous under-lit bar. We ordered three drinks and all three were unique and delicious. Cool spot w a one of a kind vibe.
Loved the food. But the service was lacking. Although friendly enough, just slow and we’re not ones to dine in a hurry. We enjoy lingering, taking our time sharing conversation, but this was crazy slow. Food was excellent though, so we might return. A little pricey, but we like that!
Incredible lunch spot. A hidden gem!
