O’Steens for the Fried Shrimp. We always make a trip to eat at O’Steens when we are near St. Augustine. While we normally do not eat fried food, we make an exception for the fried shrimp here. It is fried in a light batter and is very fresh. They have a choice of dipping sauces, tartar, cocktail or their own sauce. With an order you get the vegetable or side of the day – which has never been disappointing. My husband loves the hush puppies. I don’t think you will be disappointed with your meal!
Very good, but not the best. We visited on a Saturday night. Four of us were able to gain admittance promptly due to poor weather that evening. The fried shrimp was really good – but, not the best as many folks on here seem to suggest. The shrimp was fried lightly, minimal batter and grease. Overall, very good experience, but I would be really pissed if I waited 1.5 hours for their food. I think a 30 minute or less wait is justified. Again, the food is good, just not great. if you encounter a wait exceeding thirty minutes, eat at a different venue.
O’Steen’s Seafood. This place is the best! It is known for its shrimp. The shrimp were swimming in the ocean in the am and on your dish in the afternoon! Normally, you have to wait in line. But, it is all worth it.Stop by and enjoy a taste of St. Augustine.

Fantastic home cooked food. It’s the best quality of shrimp and taste in St Augustine. It’s quaint and small reataurant, probably hasn’t been updated since the 70’s Don’t go there for ambience only if your looking for a home cooked meal that taste great. Cash only is accepted.
