Attended a canning class in the curb market. Tried this place as a recommendation from my teacher. Tried the per nil empanada, it was delicious! Venezuelan decor, good prices, great location, I will definitely visit again & try something else. The food is flavorful & the meat is tender. Worth a visit!
Good service. The lady at the counter was helpful in selecting through the menu. The arepas was fresh and tasty. The fresh juice was refreshing, recommend it over the sodas. Will be back.
Messy & GoodArepa is a kind of corn disk sliced open and filled with a variety of ingredients. They primarily come from Venezuela and Colombia. Arepa Mia has a couple of locations and we visited the one in Decatur. It is located in a little strip center near Agnes Scott. Fortunately, it has its own parking area in the back. You order at the cash register and they bring it to you. The place has just a few tables and a long, raised counter. They plan on expanding. We started with a delicious salad of avocado and hearts of palm. We also had a lentil soup which was fine but nothing special. For the arepas we got the Pabellon which is a shredded beef, black beans, crumbled cheese and plantain slices. It was very good. We also Sifrina, a shredded chicken arepa but it wasnt as flavorful. Both arepas are stuffed and quite mess eating. After we ate ours we were told that it is best to keep it wrapped up in the paper it came in. We tried to cut ours in half to share, but the bread is so tough that it wont cut and just pushes the contents out the side. For the dessert we had a nice flan but it wasnt anything great and it was rather overpriced.Everything was generally good, but nothing would make me rush back.
Best Authentic Arepas in Atlanta! The owner knows what she is doing. Also she use local farms, all her meats is coming from Riverview farms and white oak pastures!! You Can’t bet that. You can taste the freshness on each Arepa! Great Value!! I love Arepa Mia since they were at the Atlanta underground Market.. Happy they have their little store now. 🙂
I am Venezuelan and really that food is not good amd expensive, i tried and very disappointed, if you really want to try very good Venezuelan food in Atlanta go to Natarica in Buford Hwy and JimmyCarter .
So Amazingly Good. This food is amazing. I don’t live in Atlanta but I visit as often as I can, and from now on Arepa Mia will be a must on every trip. I got the Pabellon arepa. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but nothing could have prepared me for the deliciousness. It has beef, fried plantains, feta, and black beans with a delicious sauce. It was messy to eat but so worth it. I also got a side of the black beans and they were seriously the best black beans I’ve ever had in my life. They were a little soupy but come with creme fraiche on top, and once you mix that in… well, they won’t last long. Everything was perfect, absolutely perfect.
Excellent!. I had a really good Pabelln arepa today. It had shredded beef, black beans, plantains and Venezuelan white cheese. It was a nice mix of flavors with the sweet plantains, slightly salty beef, flavorful cheese, and fresh black beans. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot! It was exactly what I needed after the rather small lunch I had from a place nearby that didn’t fill me up.Unfortunately, I was so hungry still I forgot to take a picture… next time. I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other arepas.
