On Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 8:02 p.m., my family and I dined at Benihana Atlanta II located at 229 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30303. It was one of the WORST dining experiences I’ve ever had. Initially when we walked in, there was a line and I heard the manager (African American female) tell people that it would be a two-hour wait. I understand that the wait time might be beyond the control of the restaurant; however the manner that they were being told was rather aggressive and lacked compassion. So when I got to the counter, she told me the same thing. But my mom was visiting from out of town and had never dined at Benihana and really wanted to eat there. So, we sat at the tables near the sushi bar versus the hibachi grills. After being seated, I began to take notice of our surrounding. And as we sat there, we witnessed the chef (young Caucasian guy) working at the sushi bar wipe his nose with his hands while fixing customers’ orders. DISGUSTING!!! And this happened multiple times. Due to my seating, I also witnessed other inappropriate behavior that took place in the back! Second, we waited over an hour to receive our meal. I ordered two kids meals and one entree. When we received the order, all three orders were the size of kids meals. However I was still charged the cost of an entree, which was $20. (I do have photos of all 3 meals.) I got so annoyed that I said something to one of the managers (the same African American female). She was EXTREMELY RUDE and not eager nor willing to assist us! I just finally walked off from her. I also heard our server try to get help from the other manager (a Caucasian female) and she refused because she said that I had already spoken with the other manager. The manager that I was speaking with seemed to take pride in being a manager and having the power to determine if she was or was not going to handle the issues we were having. Needless to say, I paid my bill (Ticket# 40042 Table 220/1) and tipped our server (William) very well because he was the most pleasant part of the entire evening! My bill was $78.84 and I tipped our server $15 but left there feeling like it was a waste of time and money! The bathrooms were FILTHY and it was very clear that they needed attention! The tables were dirty, and I did not appreciate spending my money in an establishment like that. But moreover, the restaurant really needs a manager that is capable of ensuring that the restaurant meets health and safety standards, is able to deal with customer complaints, and one that can ensure that the overall dining experience of ANY consumer is a good one. Overall, I was not pleased with the dining experience! I WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!!!!!!

So, this is the restaurant that introduced America to hibachi shows, spawning a million imitators. The imitations surpass the original. Or maybe I came on an off day. There’s better back home, both for show and flavor. The steak was ok, the chicken lacking. Maybe we had a new chef. What stood out was you could train to do the show yourself, then impressing family and friends with the tricks. You have them drive in and the restaurant supplies the food for you to cook in front of them.I tried the semi underground mall location. You may have better luck elsewhere.

I took my mom, who was visiting from out of state, approximately 2 weeks ago. The initial encounter with the hostesses was awful. They were MIA for 25 mins. When they returned to the hostess stand, they ignored patrons that had arrived during their absence. They ignored us for 15 additional minutes until I approached them. I was late for my reservation, so I expected to wait but being ‘ignored’ was different. I asked to see the manager after waiting 30 more minutes, when I was told the wait would be 15 mins. The manager sheepishly approached us basically saying we were late and they couldn’t seat us. That was understandable. It’s unfortunate that the team couldn’t communicate that and just ignored us in lieu of telling us that upon arrival. The chef was not engaging or entertaining. The food was sub par also. I’ve eaten at several Benihana’s throughout the country and downtown Atlanta was the absolute worse. Last time going to this restaurant. What a terrible experience for my mom. Embarrassed that I took her here.
