Probably a Nice Presentation, But Who Can Tell?Bocca Lupo has a huge number of good things going for it. Not the least is a decent parking lot. The setting is really nice and there is an area that can be opened up in mild weather. Unfortunately, when closed up it is very loud in there and difficult to talk with your table-mates.Service is very good with helpful and friendly wait staff. They promptly removed plates and refilled waters.Overall, food is delicious. Standouts were the Chicken Parm Pasta and the 20 Yolk Tagliatelle. Another nice feature is the $45 4-course tasting menu. The wine selection is good with some very decent stuff by the glass. The negatives? The place is so dark that its hard to read the menu or see what youre eating. The cocktails, while a little pricey, were good and often creative. A little balance in the flavors would have been appreciated, though. Wines were a good pour, but again a little expensive. All the food, while wonderfully flavorful, was a bit on the heavy side. All the plates would have been better balanced with a little acid to brighten them up and to cut the heaviness. The three of us shared everything, so it wasnt a problem. But I dont think that I would have wanted to face an entire single pasta entre on my owntoo rich and heavy. The dessert on the tasting menu was the only real let-down: sweet and dry pound cake with even sweeter and slightly icy ice cream. The key here is to go with a small group who like to share so that you can get lots of flavors from several different dishes. Then the heaviness wont overwhelm.

Great Food, Great Pricing, Great Concept. It’s fun to eat at the bar at Bocca Lupo and the service was very attentive. Next time, we’ll book 6mos in advance for a table as it was empty for the 1st hour we were there. Just sayin and it;s always the case. As an Italian American I appreciate good tomato gravy and theirs is very very good. Inventive combinations in all the home style pasta dishes. I learned to make Egg Pasta from my native NY Grandmother at a young age; rule of thumb – a pound of eggs to a pound of flour. Bocca’s is perfect, 20 or not yolks as they will tell you.. Too bad Barilla can’t get a market in the U.S. for all their egg based varieties sold in European supermarkets.

Delicious and dark. The food out of the kitchen is fantastic. Pastas are wicked good. I like to take newbies and visitors here because it so consistent and the menu is dynamic enough for everyone to be happy. It can get loud and is a but dark, but the food quality deminishes these issues.

Our disappointing dinner. My husband and I have enjoyed Boccalupo every time we have been there, great food always until our last visit with friends, the food was not very interesting, actually it was disappointing, the special mushroom salad was too salty, the pasta and ragu too boring and my Ga shrimp fritto misto dish was lined with a piece of the printed paper the restaurant menu on the bottom of the bowl, was it there to absorb the grease from the fried shrimp? not very appetizing!!! I know this is a casual restaurant and recycling is a good thing but a clean new piece of paper in my dish would have been better that a used printed left over menu.

Just stellar! Calamari w olives, capers, pignola nuts in a tomato based sauce – subtle and fabulous. Main course was squid ink black pasta with spicy sausage- savory and subtle too. Lucky for me it was served in a bowl or they would have found me licking the plate!Great waitstaff too. SO glad I Came.

Excellent Food/Loud Music. My wife and I had a delicious dinner. Wow, it was so good. We loved it, we absolutely loved the food. But why the bad, loud music? Why? What does that add? Granted, the place has an excellent bar. And I loved the bar when Sauced was in the same location. So, it will be a hangout, to a certain extent. But the food is so good, it seems like the focus should be restaurant first, bar second.

Great — But Ear-Splitting. We have been twice. Both times the food was fantastic but it was painfully noisy. We were told that noise baffles, or some such thing, were on the way, but neither we nor the couple we took there will come back. It is a shame — this is a great restaurant with fine food, not a club.
