Two appetizers… Toasted Almond Brie & Advacodo Split
2nd time. The food tast fresh needs more seasoning such as salt and pepper…
Good food and a relaxed ambiance.. Carroll Street cafe in Cabbagetown has a wonderful, laid back atmosphere that belies the quality of their food. Eating there recently, we had the Nicoise Salad and Salmon Linguini. Later, we came back to split Tapas and a bottle of wine. The Salad and Salmon Linguini were very well prepared. The Pasta Sauce was creamy but not overly heavy, and complimented but didn’t overpower the fish. The salad was good and the tuna on it well prepared. The Tapas were solid, with the outstanding dish being Seared Scallops. They were cooked perfectly, and seasoned wonderfully. I would certainly get them again. The Crab Cakes were also very good, with a nice flavor and lots of crab. The Sesame Seared Tuna was good, but the flavor of the fish was a little lost with the bean salad it was served over. I was greatly looking forward to the Flank steak and Chimichurri, and that was the one thing that was a bit of a disappointment. The steak was a little tough, and the Chimichurri was underwhelming. I will certainly return, and the only thing I wouldn’t consider getting again would be the Flank Steak and ChimiChurri.
Quaint neighborhood eatery with good food!
Food Was Awesome….
An amazing little local restaurant. Great food, service, and setting.
Good food and a history of poor service. I am compelled to write this review, as this is the second time in a row that I have visited the cafe and had poor service. As a small business owner myself I would want to know why customers leave. I asked for a macchiato this morning as I waited for a friend to join me, when I got a very small cup and ask the server what size it was; he said it was a double shot. I said no I meant a caramel macchiato like Starbucks. He proceed to lecture me in a condescending manner, this is Carroll Street Cafe. I paid the $2.13 (no tip) left and went to Highlands Bakery and the tab for breakfast was $28 plus tip.Business must realize that consumers have options and they will exercise those options. If I had similar conversation with the barista at Starbucks I assure you it would have gone very differently. You have lost a customer because the management at Carroll Street Cafe is either unwilling or incapable of instilling in their employees that there is NO job with out the customer. I complained to the manager on duty 6 months ago about another problem I had.
