Don’t Do It. Visited this place yesterday at Atlanta Underground and had a Margarita. To state it as simple as I can; if you find yourself wanting to raise a margarita glass don’t do it at this place because @ $5.00 you will raise a plastic 4 ounce cup of which half is ice. My suggestion is that if you want good Mexican-inspired tequila Margaritas skip this place and visit Virginia Highland Georges Bar & Restaurant 404-892-3648. Its not far from underground and it is well worth the trip.
Great food and service!. Just ate there today, Saturday around 3:00 p.m. and it was our first time. I had the jerk shrimp with cabbage and rice with beans, my husband had the chicken salad, both were really good. His chicken was very tendered and well seasoned without being too spicy and my jerk shrimp was very spicy and delicious, the cabbage was a meal by itself. Portions were large enough to be a little too full and each meal was around $11.00. Our server was prompt, friendly and helpful as we’d never eaten Jamaican food before. Loved the Marley and Matisyahu tunes being played on the patio as well, we’ll surely go back again when down near 5 points, it was right off the Marta train.
Grades: food: B; Drinks: C-; Atmosphere/Music: A. We went on a Saturday night, which tends to be busy, so the service was slow. It took 20 mins for the waitress to acknowledge us. When she did, though, she was friendly. But, after delivering our orders, she did not check on us again until it was time to request the bill. It was a shame too, because I went there ready to run the bar dry. They would’ve made a pretty penny off of me.I had the rasta pasta with brown stewed snapper for $20. I was well satisfied with the dish. Portion size was more than enough, and both the fish and pasta were quite tasty. My sister had the curry goat with rice and peas for $14. She was also very satisfied. I tasted the goat and it was very flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, I had the footprint special and my sister had the peach martini. Both were terrible. Alcohol was way too strong. The bartender was either unskilled, or just didn’t give a damn.Other than that, great decor. Great atmosphere. Great music. I’ll give it another shot to see if the service will be better on a week day. I’m proud to see my countrymen doing great things. I’ve long wished we had an upscale Jamaican spot and now we have one. If they can improve the service a bit, I may very well patronize them regularly.
Food was horrible, not favor.. save your money and time.
Just ate there, it wasn’t what I expected. The Rum Punch wasn’t great like I thought it would be. As well being Jamaican I expected the food to be spicy…and it wasn’t. I’d recommend this place to a carribean food beginner especially someone who doesn’t like pepper.
NOT all of that. The menu was not well put together or well explained. The waiter did not explain the food well. Not much to choose from to eat. Food was ok but made be feel very sick afterwards
Well.. the food was great.. but I quickly realized that Jamaican food is too spicy for me lol
