We tried the famous dumplings and the crispy fried beef. Both of these were delicious. The beef was only ranked one pepper so I will have to go back and try the four pepper chicken!
Gu is Gud, Really GudCreative Loafing recently rated Gus Zhong-Style Dumpling as one of the top 100 dishes you must eat in Atlanta. So I had to try itand I agree!Gus is just a counter in the Krog Street Market. This isnt necessarily fast food. They must make everything fresh because it takes a little while to get your orderand thats OK for food this good. The dumplings can be filled with either pork or vegetables. The sauce poured over them is fantastic and I would probably eat twigs covered in the stuff.
The dumplings are really good, the Dan Dan noodles were far less impressive. I would go back for the dumplings but the other menu items are not as impressive. As always, Krog Street Market is a need to go place.
Just had the spicy chicken. Definitely not worth $15.
Great dumplings….if you like raw garlic. We tried half an order of pork dumplings. Enjoyed them, but you should be prepared for the raw garlic. Nothing subtle about these dumplings. I will have them again, but won’t be expecting to be able to taste much afterwards.
Another wait before you go. I’ve been a long time Gu’s Bistro supporter and never had a subpar meal there…until today at Gu’s Dumplings in Krog Street Market…as another critic reported, the Spicy Chicken was WAY over cooked, tough, and not flavorful…the Spicy Dried Eggplant was not as crispy and flavorful as at the Bistro, didn’t have the shaved garlic nor the usual amount of cilantro, and was a much smaller portion than before…i also ordered white rice, but didn’t get any…on the positive side, the dumplings were very good…I’m sure it will get better once some time has passed and the kinks get worked out…as usual, the employees were very nice
Wait to go…. My friend and I had lunch yesterday and was very disappointed. The spicy chicken was overcooked and flavor – marginal. My friend had the fried eggplant and crazy salty. I suspect it will get better – just need to work out the kinks.
