One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The special today was remarkable: blue cheese, shiitake bacon, Vidalia onion, arugula and fennel salad with vinaigrette, and a jam I can’t recall. Stunning. Fresh cut fries also a win. Can’t recommend highly enough.
I have finally had the legendary H&F burger. After years of putting it off I decided to pop into the Ponce City Market to check things out. The service is speedy as I sat down at the bar top right away. However there was a long line for to go orders. They have a cut and dry menu, burger, veggie burger or hot dog and some fries. They serve beer but I settle on a draft root beer from Red Hare which was nice and crisp. I ordered the original burger with fries. The fries are hand-cut but are nice crunchy compared to others. I usually hate ketchup but H&F’s homemade is great, same goes to the mustard. Now on to the main event the burger. The smashed beef patties are very flavorful and american cheese is a classic for melting. The onions are perfectly cooked with the patty. The B&B pickles are sweet and nothing special, I pulled them off and dis guarded them. The bun is good, the burger itself reminds me of one you would get in Wisconsin. The price is hefty ($12) for such a small burger. It’s good but in such a vast sea of burgers I will stick to Fred’s, Grind House, George’s or the underrated Brick Store burger that outdoes the H&F. Regardless I’m glad to have sampled it.
