We love this place. My family goes every time we come to Atlanta. Everything is fresh, service is superb, and I really like the atmosphere. I have never heard any disco music or seen a fog machine, but we go typically on a Friday or Saturday night. They have a great wine list and their tiramisu is probably the best I’ve ever had. Great little place!
The food was excellent. Classic Italian, well prepared. Several pastas are vegetarian. The cheese ravioli with marinara was excellent. It is a simple dish and many places do not put any effort into it. Here it was so well done I want to not it. The wine list is substantial. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is unsuited to fine dining. Frank Sinatra is a great singer and I enjoy his much, but not when it is so loud that conversation is nearly impossible. Asking to have the music lowered will not help. If there is a table that looks like it is having a celebration, run. Run swiftly. Your experience will become a trip through the Inferno.
This place is defnitely weird, in a good way. There are a lot of decorations and the lighting is dim, and randomly a fog machine and disco lights will go off. The food is great, classic Italian. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I have been twice and both times were not a disappointment. It is an interesting dining experience in the best way.
Wonderful experience. Have eaten here several times. I love the variety of food, everything is good. Service is outstanding. Relaxed, quirky atmosphere. My favorite Italian in Atlanta!
TacoJohn. Calamari and shrimp dish was perfectly prepared with a slightly spicy tomatoes sauce. Bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Unforgettable. I was in Atlanta on business this week and had a patron at my hotel in downtown suggest Il Localino and I feel it necessary to express what a great experience this was. The owners greeted us within five minutes of arrival to thank us for visiting and they were the nicest people you could meet. (From Venice which can’t hurt). The atmosphere was everything you could hope for in an Italian restaurant. It was small and very welcoming. The drinks we ordered were absolutely top shelf and the server was most professional. We received a complementary appetizer from the owner which was a fresh Italian bean and beat salad. Our entrees were exceptional and you could easily tell that everything was homemade and we were in for the most authentic Italian cuisine. After dinner I asked to speak to the owner/chef (Giovanni) to thank him for the magnificent experience and he came to the table and shared an amazing story that truly showed his love for the food he creates. I will say that Il Localino was the greatest restaurant experience that I have ever had and I look forward to my next Atlanta trip. Please check this place out!
If you love garlic…… Quirky eclectic spot in the Virginia Highlands area. Love this area of town and the modern restaurants popping up. Garlic is extreme here but oh, so very good. A little campy, but this most definitely has charm. If you are looking for mom and pop on turbo, this is the place.
