It’s good for what it’s worth. The food was good and cheap and the restaurant it self was very nice and clean. Simple southern food. If you want to try southern food, then this is the place. I would say that it is not something exceptional ,but that’s because southern food is simple comfort food and Mary Mac’s does that right. Don’t come here, expecting to be blown away. Southern food is more for people who like traditional american food. But if you are a foodie who is looking for something different this is nothing out of the ordinary. We had shrimp and grits and chicken fried chicken with sides of fried okra, fried green tomato, broccoli casserole and squash casserole. We liked shrimp and grits better but didn’t really like the squash casserole. foodiemuggles.com

Took a Lyft out here after reading about how great the fried chicken was. At 8pm on a Sunday night, the place was packed. We had about a 20 minute wait which seemed pretty good considering the amount of people in the restaurant.Being from Australia, we were not sure where to start, but our waiter was great in recommending some dishes. We got the fried green tomatoes and hush puppies to start, both delicious (but hush puppies are now something I am obsessed with). The bread basket with cornbread, rolls and cinnamon scrolls were all amazing. I got the fried chicken and my partner the chicken fried chicken, both so good. The fried chicken was the best that we had ever tasted- chicken cooked perfectly, coating crunchy and not at all oily. The sides took a backseat to the chicken- Mac and cheese and collard greens, both of which were nice but didn’t shine.Got peach cobbler to take away but too full to have more than a few bites later that night- tasted fresh and delicious.Go here, order the fried chicken and hush puppies, eat the bread basket and get great service.

We had several recommendations to try this restaurant out, so during a recent visit to Atlanta we did. As a food mecca, Atlanta was a bit disappointing. However, Mary Macs was a good find. Southern food galore with a number of traditional entrees and sides. Drinks were very good but pricey. Our party of 4 was fortunate to grab a table in the bar, otherwise it would have been a 30-40 minute wait. The size of the establishment was larger than it appears. Customers fill out their own order form, which saves some time. Unusual dishes and appetizers were available, such as fried chicken livers. If you like chicken livers, these were hot and not overdone. The grilled catfish a bit tough, and fried probably the way to go. I kicked myself for not ordering the fried chicken, as my spouse’s chicken fried chicken breast was juicy and tender. Our guests enjoyed their meatloaf and vegetable plate, but the squash souffl was not very good. The mac and cheese a bit more sweet than savory, and not quite to our liking. Server never checked back with us and it took some time to get our check. Overall well worth the visit for its historic value as this place has been visited by many celebrities and has seen much acclaim and has had numerous reviews within the press throughout the years, including the Wall Street Journal.

Went to a retirement celebration, hadn’t been in a while, the food is always delicious! Our server Brandon was excellent! He anticipated our every need & even made a fresh sweet pitcher of ice tea for us. On the menu were fried & baked chicken, fried catfish & BBQ pulled pork with sweet potato souffl, potato salad, collard greens, macaroni & cheese, green beans, black eye peas & rice & dinner rolls & corn muffins. For dessert was bread pudding & peach cobbler. Excellent location, been there for over 30 years, free tight parking. They have some of the best homemade cinnamon rolls & corn muffins with pot liquor. Mary Macs tea room is worth a visit whenever you’re in Atlanta. Excellent prices, their squash casserole is excellent also. Best place for down home cooking, minutes from the fox theatre & won’t break your pocketbook.

This place is really awesome. The servers take really good care of you and they are friendly. Oh yeah, the food is awesome too. I had fried pork chops, mac and cheese, tomato pie and pot liquor with crackling bread. It was so good. If I lived near by I would be a regular. Heck I live over a hour away and may still be a regular.

Amazing little place, went here when I was scouting UGA as a college option. Or waitress was so fun and warm. The fried chicken was amazing, they dried it out as I requested because I’m weird and prefer my meat dry over moist.

We went with a party of 30 & they don’t take reservations, so we were there a loooong time. Only one waiter was assigned to our party, so it was a little rough. Chicken pot pies were delivered well after everyone else was served and corn pudding never came. Food was great- I had fried chicken with tomato pie (loved!) and cheese and vegetable souffle (needed salt). Also pimento cheese app was good, but fried green tomatoes were the best part.
