Wasn’t really in the mood for Caribbean, but it was there and so was I. It was open. I was hungry. Decided against spicy in favor of snapper. Very well presented and as good as it looked. Nice stewed okra sauce wasn’t overly herby, and no heat. Green bananas? Move over, potatoes. Interesting twist. The fish itself was very lightly breaded and fried just right. A tiny hint of heat – 0.5 on a 1-10 scale. Fresh tasting. At $29, not cheap, but worth it. Good value. As others have mentioned, beautiful surroundings, friendly, attentive waiter. Not as fast as fast food… but what do you expect for quality prep work? I was impressed all around.
I love how Negril Village made a Caribbean establishment classy. From the wonderful bread pudding to the ambiance of the entire restaurant, I was impressed. I went here last year on a date and for a Friday night, I was surprised that this place wasn’t packed. We were able to be seated immediately, despite our reservation. I noticed the different apparel of other diners. This place is beautiful enough for you to dress up but also casual enough for you to feel comfortable coming straight from work. The manager constantly checked on us throughout the night, which was also nice. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. forkcetious.com
This jerk chicken and waffles at Negril Village are delicious. If you’re taste buds veer towards sweet plus savory, that’s the meal to get. The jerk is flavorful and not too overbearingly spicy (although I wish it was). The service was alright. Nothing positive or negative in that regard. Parking next to the restaurant is $10 and the machine accepts cards. The bartenders were very nice while we waited for our table. The atmosphere is romantic and with a slight ode to upscale dining. I enjoyed the ambiance as well as the dance hall/reggae music coming from upstairs. I will be back to try their other dinner options.
Our server was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant interior is beautiful, nice atmosphere. The Jerk chicken and waffles was a delicious take on the southern classic. Also enjoyed the rum infused bread pudding although the dessert serving was a bit small for sharing. I look forward to returning to try out more items on the menu. Great spot to start the evening out on a Friday of Saturday night. Live music upstairs every Friday night (free w/RSVP b4 11pm)
The food (jerk chicken with waffles, curry shrimp) was good. Portions were on the small side and prices were high for the quality. Only one beer on draft and it tasted like moldy basement. Wait staff seemed to have no experience at all. It took almost an hour to pay the bill – the cash register system didn’t work and had to be reset. We couldn’t even pay with cash. Maybe worth trying in a few months if they survive that long once they get their startup issues taken care of.
Too LONG. Although the food was good, it took a century to get it. My party received their appetizers an hour after ordering them and it took an hour for me to get drinks! Smh. Oh and we are CURRENTLY still waiting on Entres… You don’t want to know when we ordered them
Curry Goat Roti. Best roti i’ve had in a long time. Excellent service. All my dishes were delish!
