I don’t care what anyone else says, I have been in Atlanta for 4 nights and had steak every night. Sear BY FAR had the best steak. Got the bone in strip special of the night and it was awesome!!! Cooked right! GREAT flavor and the sides were delicious. My wife got the ravioli and enjoyed it. The colossal shrimp appetizer was colossal. Sylvester our waiter was superb. All in all 5 stars!!!
This place is awful. The restaurant is pretty but has lighting reminicent of a cafeteria, like Picadilly. Ordered, then waited about 40 minutes and reminded the waitress twice (the only times she came over to the table) to bring our bottle of Jordan Cabernet ($140). We asked for food to be coursed out if possible, she asked the chef, said it was possible, then all the apps arrived together. The lamb was overcooked, the corn chowder was actually gumbo (a little tasty, but not what we expected) and the caesar salad was, well… meh. For entrees we ordered the cowboy ribeye (mid rare) and a shrimp entree, with asparagus, mac and cheese and grilled mushrooms for the sides. The steak was mid well at best, the mushrooms cold and greasy, the asparagus cold and the mac and cheese was globular and just plain nasty. About 10 minues after the steak arrived, the food runner showed up with ribs that we didn’t order, but no shrimp. We had no clean silver, dirty salad and appitizer plates littered our table, nobody came over to check on us. At this point I’d like to mention that I spent years waiting tables in high end restaurants, as did my boyfriend, so we’re pretty understanding when a server or kitchen is slammed, and though we have reasonably high expectations of a place that charges $30 and up for its steak, we’re not particularly high maintenence – at any rate, they were not busy. We waited for a while (15 mins), food untouched, pouring our own wine, finally my boyfriend got up and searched out the manager. She was very kind and accomodating, took everything away, comped everything but the wine we waited so long for, then brought us one of the grossest desserts (chocolate wall) that I’ve ever tasted. Straight from Sysco. Bottom line, we’d have done much better having our Valentine’s date at the Varsity. If you actually eat out somwhere other than fast food places, have reasonable restaurant expectations and/or enjoy decent food, this is NOT the place to go. Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long long time. It does not even warrant one star.
I think the 47% is harsh. We had a good a good meal
Waitress’s walking up to your table with a broom and dust pan in there hand is a no no
Mediocre at best. For the menu and especially the price, I expected MUCH better. Let’s start this by saying that this was the evening after a large convention was in town. ( Dragon Con I beleive?) However considering that the restaurant was extremely slow as far as patronage, there was no excuse in the slow service we received. (service and food delivery) The waiter was very snooty and seemed put upon to wait on us. Plates were banged on the table when things were served, we never got our second order of dinner rolls and no apologies were made for not bringing them. I ordered a dinner salad and the Shrimp and Grits entree. (which normally i love!) The grits tasted like wall paper paste and was about that consistency. The waiter never came by to ask if our food was satisfactory or not and constantly poured my refills while reaching over me with a pitcher. We had brought a close friend, who was in town, to a restaurant we expected to impress her. Sadly it fell very short. Considering the fact that the gratuity was included I do not think the waiter, who i will not name, deserved half of that! I may go back if there are no other options available.
Mmmm. Great breakfast!!!!
Great breakfast buffet and fine dining. SEAR is located inside the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. They did a decent job with the 28-day aged Delmonico and Filet Mignon. I wasn’t thrilled with the Au Gratin potatoes as they tasted like they just mixed alfredo sauce with potatoes. The service is friendly but not up to par with higher-end establishments. The breakfast buffet is just killer! Excellent, plentiful choices and plenty of fresh, sliced fruits along with bottomless coffee and OJ. Yeah, I crushed the breakfast there – twice!
