We have been looking for some good southern bbq since weve moved to Atlanta 3 years ago. We were going to eat at Fox Bros but it was packed and there was zero parking near by so we ended at Sweet Auburn BBQ. Service was okay, cool tatted waitress. The cornbread was tasty and chicken wings were smoked and then fried. They tasted the best to me. We had a family lunch and ended up spending $160 and for the portions and with the mediocre flavor it wasnt worth the price. The meat didnt taste smoked or grilled in any way and the portions were very very small. The bbq sauce wasnt tasteful and lacked that rich bbq flavor. The collard greens were just okay, Ive had much better. Pretty watery which drowned the taste out. The Texas toast was plain and had a lite sour taste that disagreed with the bbq flavors being combined here. We were really disappointed with the food. Seems they charged more for their food just because of the location of the restaurant. Also, a $5 can of beer…which buying alcohol at a restaurant can always be expensive but they just gave it to us in a can. Husband wasnt impressed. I really wanted to like this place but as I had told a waiting patron on our way out, its good but not great. I wouldnt go back personally. The decor of the restaurant was charming and had a very homey, rustic feeling. Hope they improve their food, people would enjoy more.
