I was wandering around Centennial Park on a hot day and came across a sign for happy hour cocktails and apps at Thrive. I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and professionalism of the staff here. I wasn’t expecting much from a happy hour menu but again was happily surprised by the excellent spicy and fresh tasting calamari and the refreshing Humperdink martini. I would definitely recommend this for finicky customers. You won’t be disappointed! !
The Good the Bad and the Ugly (…unfortunately its mostly bad and ugly). My husband and I love to try new places and Atlanta certainly offers up quite the selection. When I stumbled upon a Groupon for Thrive and checked out their menu, I was quite excited. The restaurant opens at 5:30pm. We arrived shortly after around 5:45pm. Upon entering I was not disappointed. The dcor and ambiance are great. Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived. The restaurant was fairly empty (Im being polite). The host asked for our reservation and told us, with quite the snarky attitude of a man with Napoleon complex, unfortunately there is no room at the Inn and our only option was to sit at the bar. We roll with the punches and decided the vacant bar would suffice. We strolled to the end of the seemingly abandoned high top tables and sat ourselves as the host was entirely too busy with the imaginary throngs of people beating down the door to get in. (<-please excuse my slight use of sarcastic tone). When I say empty, Im telling you there could have been tumbleweeds rolling by and I would not have been shocked. Now enter the sole redeeming character of this terrible visit the bartender. We sat at our lonely little table for around 15 minutes while servers chatted amongst themselves at the end of the bar. We sat with no menus, no water, nada…The bartender had to tell one of the waitresses we probably needed some menus. In her defense, she did bring menus over promptly. They came in a very nice hard binder. When opened both menus were marred with several unidentified stains. GROSS Its paper, throw them away and print new ones. I dont know about you, but I dont like touching something covered in unidentified stains EVER, especially right before I eat. Regardless, roll with the punches right? I carry hand sanitizer for this exact reason. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio and my husband ordered a Miller Lite. The bartender jumped on our order…and our drinks sat there…and sat there…and sat there. Our waitress couldnt pry herself from stroking the hosts beard. I guess its similar to how monkeys groom fleas from each other. The bartender took it upon himself to do her job for her and delivered a pinot noir and my husbands drink. Yep, I didnt order pinot grigio…Thats ok; he fixed it and took our order. Now to the food: it was pretty good. To be honest, the rest of the experience completely trumped the fact that the chef is battling to keep this place from going under. Lets go back to the HUGE rush that kept us from being able to get a table. At this point weve been at Thrive for an hour, there are still 11 (ELEVEN!!!!) empty tables. Hmmm….weird right? The beard picking incident was one of the last times we saw our waitress. In her defense, she came back as our food was being delivered to see if we wanted to order something… with oh, uh…I guess you already ordered?! Yes, we ordered, Im so sorry to be inconveniencing you. Our meal was delivered by several different people. The bartender brought our appetizer. Two servers brought our entre and someone else entirely brought our dessert. This leaves me perplexed. With so many people on staff, with only a few tables of patrons I found it odd that my husband had to walk to the bar to get a refill. Each course was dropped off with such haste that not one employee (except for the bartender) had time to ask if we needed anything. I kept secretly hoping Robert Irvine was going come barreling through the door to tell us what we unfortunately already knew…

The food is great..the new manager..can’t remember his name but he use to be a waiter is awesome. On occasion I have had complaints about my food and the chef does not take kindly to criticism but I don’t think peppercorns should be in my food so bully him. On the plus side the restaurant is very pretty and relaxing and some of the menu items are to die for…Will always patronize Thrive!
Ordered broccoli with cashews. We got soaked broccoli with peanuts Food did not taste fresh
This was the best meal I’ve ever had. We had the beef carpaccio for an appetizer, filet and tuna for dinner, and finished it off with the apple fritters. We’ve talked about coming back in town next weekend just to come eat here!! Service was also wonderful!! 5 stars for sure!
I came to Atlanta for a course and was pleasantly surprised to find such a great sushi restaurant so close to my hotel. Delicious!!! I had sashimi, DL special, and Vesuvius rolls, I loved the flavored and textures!
Nice atmosphere. We had a great time at Thrive, we loved everything, from the cocktails to the dessert. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We tried the fried calamari and the steamed pork buns and they were both delicious. For entree we tried the salmon steak and some sushi like the Do special and the Vezuvius roll. We loved the grand mariner crime brle. They have really a great selection of specialty cocktails. We’ll be back for sure
