Ordered the flank steak. Came out stone cold. In 35 years of eating out, first time I have ever sent something back to the kitchen. Asked to have it warmed up. They sent a different plate with a smaller portion. That was OK, but it was also stone cold. In 35 years of eating out, first time I sent a meal to the trash. Just done at that point. Wife’s salmon was luke warm. Brought a little better than half home to microwave. Two firsts in one night. Also a last. Never going back. Felt terrible for the waitress. She tried so hard. Not much she can do when the kitchen sends out cold food.
Have eaten here twice now while staying at the Atlanta Hilton on 2 separate visits, almost exactly 1 year apart. Food is solid or better. The fire roasted pork (Cha Sui) is fantastic. The imperial beef is very good. Tasty and tender. My wife’s curry chicken was quite good. The drinks are fruity and more than a little cliche but still tasty and can be quite potent. It is a little overpriced for the food (strangely, I don’t think the drinks are much above the market norm) but there is something about the decor (You would expect the birds to sing words and the flowers to croon) and atmosphere that makes it worth an occasional visit.Authentic? Who knows. A decent evening? I think so.
Shocked. Thought it would be decent have to say she talked me into the lamb and it was some of the best I have ever had hands down. Also am a huge wonton soup guy and that was fantastic as well. Who would of ever guessed.
Nice throw back to the golden age of Polynesian restaurants. Reminded me of the Trader Vics in Chicago which is now closed.Dinner and service was excellent!Have the mai tai , Vics salad, surf and turf, and the vics rum ice cream.
Extra charge on bank statement. OMG! The food was ok, nothing to write home about. Our problem is not with the food but with their rip-off mentality. Our bill was $65.32 which included their 18% gratuity. When we looked at our bank statement the next day they charged us $78.35. I will dispute the additional charges. I will never go back!!
We loved it!. I took my husband there for Father’s Day. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We had a remarkable experience and will definitely return.
Trader Vics…paradise on earth. This is more of a rebuttal than a review so bear with me. First of all the delicious, smoke-tinged air is so fragrant your mouth waters the minute you walk in. Its never been overpowering and/or offensive, quite the opposite. The foods a little pricey but hey, plan ahead and you’ll be fine. And the drinks…sweet, sweet nectar. Every single one is handcrafted by amazing bartenders who are always on top of their game. Never a sub par beverage in all the times I’ve been there. And I have to whole-heartedly disagree with the opinion that the bartenders were not quite engaging. More to the point, each one has a unique personality and familiar sense of humour that can be discovered by just being cool and chatting, thats all. All in all, great service, amazing drinks, live music and specials, awesome decor. This is a true Atlanta landmark. Whether you’re visiting or a Thurs night local, do yourself a favour and check out Trader Vics.
