The margaritas are great and the outdoor concept is cool. The food is okay as well. Nothing about Zocalo is really impressive to me but it can be a fun atmosphere. They often have a scoutmob which is when and why we go, but if not for that I probably would never choose to go to this establishment. It is pretty pricy for what you get. It is just okay.
Service VERY slow! Waited at least 10 minutes to even be acknowledged and give a drink order. Food was mediocre and overpriced.
Good margaritas, tasty food. Dropped in for a pre-Lion King dinner on Saturday night. Peach margaritas were very good. Food was plentiful and generally very good, lots of flavour but not a lot of the heat you expect from a Mexican restaurant. We’d go back.
Cool place, bad food.
Worst Service I have ever had. Went here for a friends birthday dinner. First of all, the food was just not good at all and expensive. I understand that being in midtown, the food will be more expensive, but honestly, they could at least make the food taste well. The service was absolutely terrible. The waiter was not friendly and rude to the people at our table. The manager or owner decided to wait on our table after we spoke to the hostess. Im not sure what his deal was because again terrible service. More rude than the waiter. Demanded a higher tip. I assume as I pass through this place all the time on the weekends that people just go there because of the location and drinks, because I dont know who in their right mind would return for their food and service. Better Mexican food elsewhere. If you happen to be south of Atlanta (Jonesboro), try taqueria la oaxaquena. Their food is very delicious Mexican food and at a far better price. Please stay away from Zocalo unless you are going JUST for the drinks and really have no where else to go. Again this place has probably kept their business because people go for their drinks and might already by drunk when they arrive not knowing how terrible the place is.
A great way to spend an evening. Went with a friend following a really brutal Core Fusion Barre (i.e. torture) class at a nearby gym. Margaritas ensued. Chips and salsa shortly thereafter. They weren’t the best I’ve ever had, but they’re free and I wasn’t complaining to be able to stuff my face while making up my mind. We both ended up going for the Quesadillas Surtidas, which are flour or corn tortillas filled with cheese and chicken, or mushrooms, or chorizo (you get one of each). Simple, right? But so delicious. Our server was friendly, delightful and provided lots of recommendations. The whole restaurant is open air and it made for a very charming setting; like being out on someone’s deck for a party. It is a little pricier for both drinks and food than other restaurants for this calibre, but I think it was still worth it. I really enjoyed my time there and would recommend Zocalo to anyone looking for a laid back evening with friends.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THE WORST MEXICAN i HAVE EVER HAD AND PRICEY
