So fresh and so delicious. I just had lunch at Zuma sushi in Old 4th Ward and my goodness it was so delicious. The Falcon roll was SO fresh and the Dragon Roll had the best seared salmon on top. Not to mention the edamame had the perfect amount of salt on it. I could not believe how quickly I was able to get my food. This was the perfect place to grab a quick lunch between work meetings. I will 100% go back for lunch at least once a week. I’m also going to bring all my coworkers. Such a cute space!
One word: downhill. This used to be an OK spot for sushi, but the service and food have taken a major dive over the past year. I used to eat here often because of the convenience, but after my most recent return to it, I can safely say it was my last. The service was awful, but the food was worse. We did not finish eating our appetizer Tuna Tartar because it had sinuous, tough fat that made the tuna very chewy. The worst part was a $12 roll that was supposed to have salmon in the middle. The chef did not use the sushi bar salmon (in front of us), but instead used the grey part of the salmon… Anyone who has cooked salmon knows this is not a tasty part of the fish. When we asked the server what was in it, she said salmon. I asked why it was black-gray, she replied that it changes color when cooked. I then asked if it was the same salmon as sushi, she said yes. I then informed her that Salmon loses some of its pink color when it is cooked, so this is obviously the meat connected to the skin. She retreated her words and told me they do not use the salmon presented at the bar.Long story short, there was no apology for lies, deceit or our nausea. Just a partial comp of what we did not eat (2 rolls, not half of the tartar).
Waited for 15 minutes to get seated for lunch then walked out. Literally had ONE person waiting on the entire resteraunt, seating people, and cleaning tables. According to those around us, there is never more than one person working the lunch shift. Insane
Went there for dinner. Tried the calamari and spider roll. Quality was mediocre. Calamari was not very fresh
Zuma is a fantastic sushi spot for those who love fresh, tasty fish. I tend to order sashimi. It is always phenomenal. There are places that I would never order sashimi, only rolls. Cooked tools at that. Because the raw fish is so good here, I can’t comment on many rolls however, the unagi is great too.
Just ok. It’s ok if you just want to grab some take out.and they are convenient for you. The sushi is kind of plain and expensive for what you get. They also tend to get the order confused, so double check when ordering.
I loved the salmon roll and white tuna nigiri. Other stuff was good too. A great find I must say for the taste of sushi at the prices they offer.
