Films With Flavor at CineBistroHow about some smoked Gouda Croquettes with that romantic comedy? CineBistro in Town Brookhaven offers real food and cocktails to moviegoers, a far cry from the overly salted popcorn at your neighborhood theater. Valet parking starts a date off right, but keep in mind, dinner orders are taken 30 minutes prior to each movie, so timing is vital.LC and I finally made it out to see La La Land, the modern love story with Hollywood serving as a glamorous backdrop. Arriving a little early, we enjoyed drinks and an appetizer at the bar in the lobby. CineBistros sangria is potent and some of the best in town, full of fruit soaked in liquor. We tried the Ahi Tuna Taquitos, mini fried taco shells filled with diced sushi-grade tuna, avocado, Asian pear, and cilantroa terrific combination of textures and flavors!Once inside the theater, our server came to our stadium-style seats to take our dinner order, all of which we shared. LC chose the Pan-Seared Atlantic Salmon served with whipped potatoes and smokey bacon collards, accented with two sauteed shrimp, plus a side of Roasted Acorn Squash with Brussels sprouts, pecans, and blue cheese that I was curious about.I ordered the Fig and Brie Flatbread with sweet grain mustard spread, balsamic roasted figs, caramelized onions and brie. Unfortunately, it needed a few more minutes in the oven. The flatbread that held the ingredients was not crispy and to make matters worse, the combination was just too sweet, especially with the balsamic glaze drizzled on top. However, the salmon entree was stellar, expertly seasoned and prepared. Collards were tender, like Grandma used to make. I was most surprised by the unusual side dish, expecting chunks of squash roasted with Brussels, but instead, it was a roasted half acorn squash filled with a tasty salad made of shaved Brussels, pecans, and blue cheese.CineBistro serves better food than many restaurants Ive visited and its certainly more appetizing than sneaking in a burrito in your pocket! hotdishreview.com
