Yummy injeras and what a vegetarian spread ! Desta lived up to it’s name and delivered happiness to the palate. Friendly service added to the experience. Whenever I plan to be in Atlanta, it’s gonna be destination Desta for me !
We have had Ethiopian food before and though we liked it, we didn’t feel that it was anything exceptional. When we saw the good reviews for this place we decided to give Ethiopian food another chance and boy are we glad. We got the lamb tibs with injera and salmon fir fir. Lamb tibs reminded us a little bit of Indian curry. The salmon fir fir was really good specially those injera soaked in spiced berbere sauce. We also asked for some extra berbere sauce because it was just so amazing. Everything was really flavorful and we would love to eat here again. foodiemuggles.com
First time at an ethiopian kitchen, and I absolutely loved it! Ordered the Tibs chicken, which is a classic ethopian chicken curry and comes with Injira, which is their traditional bread made from tuff grains. Also, called for a house salad which was soft on the palate and excellent on the gut. We also ordered a Vegetarian platter which had 4 kinds of main dishes, and some salads to a accompany. The ‘Misir’ preparation was a winner. Totally recommend it to anybody who likes to try global cuisines, and has a fettish for spicy food. Definitely going there again.
What an experience! So authentic, delicious, and savory. Having heard so much about this place from various people, finally made it here and it was true to its reputation. Apart from the obvious meat lovers menu, they have a huge variety for vegetarians. We had the vegetarian platter and Kitfo with Shiro. They have a couple of Ethiopian wines which are honey based. Highly recommended!
Super good food, great service, right when you get out of the car the smell is amazing! I highly recommend this place.
This place is divine! Go early or be prepared to wait. I am a big fan of Ethiopean cuisine and this is the best I’ve had yet! The food at Desta is fantastic, and the service is fast but very warm and friendly. We tried the tibs (in both lamb and ribeye) as well as the gorem (collard greens) and the potato stew. The spices and ingredients were very fresh with lots of bold flavor. Everything was delicious, especially accompanied by the injera bread. Top off your meal with a St. George lager!
Went two weeks ago with my wife & friends. Had the lamb and it was fantastic. Very flavorful, moist, and lean. They give you the option of the native bread or rice. I will definitely return!
