Pretty Good Indian. I stopped in for lunch to see if I could find a decent Indian place close enough to work to make it a regular spot. It’s in the same shopping center with Sushi Yoshino, Wing Ranch and Thai Lanna, and across the street from Corner Pizza. The inside has a sort of hole-in-the-wall feel to it. The owner and staff are very friendly. I was also happy to see that they didn’t offer a lunch buffet.I went with the lunch portion of Chicken Korma. Lunch portions come with Mulligatawny Soup, Vegetable Curry, Vegetable Pakora, Naan, and dessert (Rice Pudding on this visit). The Mulligatawny was watery than I was used to and the flavor was a bit lacking. The Chicken Korma (with medium spice), however, had some pretty good flavors, a nice amount of chicken and cashews, and the spiciness level was exactly what I was looking for. The vegetable curry was a nice size serving and also had good flavor. The Pakora was new for me, but was excellent. It’s like a battered and deep fried vegetable ball. It had a lot of flavor and was easily the dark horse of the meal for me. I really enjoyed it and will have to look for it on the menu of other Indian restaurants I visit.Overall, you get a lot of food for your money here and, Mulligatawny notwithstanding, everything was pretty tasty. I think I may have found my Indian lunch spot.
Wonderful!. Moon is in our neighborhood, and we have driven past it hundreds of times without any interest in stopping. I guess we assumed that a tiny restaurant in a rather unexciting strip of eateries could not possibly produce outstanding Indian food. How wrong we were!!!!! From the excellent Naan to the wonderful Chicken Saag with spinach and rich, spicy Veggie Marsala, we had a delightful meal. The owner came over to talk with us on several occasions to be certain all was well, and it is clear that he is very proud of and committed to his restaurant and those who dine there. Even the Pinot Grigio from an Italian boutique winery was very, very good (and I drink a lot of wines). We shall frequent this little gem regularly and are so appreciative for its presence in our neighborhood.
Finally popped after driving by a billion times. Decor was pretty minimal but the food was good. Lamb Rogan Josh was flavorful with distinct tastes of different spices, and the naan bread was just the right mix of crispy/chewy with a slightly sweet finish.
One of the worst experiences I had with Indian food tonite. I am pretty sure I am never going back to this place ever. Not sure how can people like the food at this place.
I Felt like I’d Died and Gone to Heaven…. When I ate their Chola Batora, a chickpea dish with a fluffy inflated balloon of thin bread made in the Tandoori oven. The Chola Batora was so delicious; my mother and I couldn’t believe what we were tasting. It was the second best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth! Eating it with the special bread is delicious and fun, too!I can’t wait to eat here again! Soooooo, Delicious!
Normally excellent food. Tonight horrible take out service.
I’ve started to frequent Royal of India and have been very happy with the food and service. The Butter Chicken is awesome as is the Lamb Curry. Lunch is a great deal with a full meal around $8-9. If you live in the Brookhaven area you should try it.
