Excellent food and great chef. I just ate here today. This is a great spot for West African food in Atlanta. The chef is Cameroonian but she has a wide variety of West African food in her restaurant and also lots of custom spices which she sells too.I had the fufu and the egusi. The fufu potato was prepared to perfection. I do hope she stays open. Like a lot of small business owners in this economy she is struggling. If you are in Atlanta and you want to try something different definitely stop by. She also has vegetarian West African food and Caribbean food too.So there is no reason to not sample some great food and also get some new spices for your cabinet.

Yes please people this great tasting food should be getting a way lot more business then it is…sabina is a very nice lady and on top of that has very good food i had peanut butter stew and seafood dg…16teen hour drive into georgia and we are so glad to find a spot like this online…come on people if you like good food then this right here, is a good move…and big up to georgia looking all natural, african, exotic and beautiful down there…i hope that style never die’s out, the who world of blacks can learn a lot from y’all
Delish Home Cooked Food. Sabina was a delight. She greated us with African music playing in the background. We told her what we were looking for and she accommodated our requests, even though some requests were not part of the menu. The food is just what we were looking for. Sabina HOOKED us up and I know that we shall be back. Great job!
Authentic as it gets! My husband is Nigerian & I am American we saw this while visiting and had to try it. We had the pepper soup w/goat meat, I had peanut soup w/beef & they were both delicious! My husband had edikaikong and thought it was as authentic as back home! Wish we didn’t live so far away but highly recommend trying the food here if you want real African cooking & not an imitation Americanized version.
My Heart Sings of Joy!!. I am so happy that I finally made it to Motherland Kitchen. It’s seems to be the only real/authentic African restaurant in the Atlanta area. I live pretty far south but it was worth the drive. I have been trying to make a lot of classic West African dishes at home but I always seem to fail. My food always seems to be missing something….but the great news is that….. I found it! Ms. Sabina was able to capture the essence of many of my favorite classic dishes in her spice collection. She even gave me some tips on how to really maximize the flavor of my own creations using her seasonings made of a blend of many different flavorful fragrant herbs (NO MSG). More importantly her food really floored me!. I was so thankful that she hit the nail on the head with okra soup. I am not great at writing these things so it’s hard for me to really say how wonderful my entire experience was. Just make sure you give Motherland Kitchen a try, you will be more than pleased that you did. The feeling of being welcome, the flavor sensation that will dance on your palate, and the warm comfy feeling of being full is exactly what I needed to lift my spirits.
The Best African Food in the South. I have just experienced the best African food that the South has to offer. The restaurant is a small quiet place, that is quite out of the way from where I’m at (South of Atlanta), but I promise you that even as high as gas prices are, this place is well worth the drive. I must admit, I am new to the whole concept of fufu with a dish that compliments it (such as egusi), but I swear I had absolutely no idea there was such a variety of fufu (plantain, oat, corn, water, etc). The rich blends of all the spices and the variety herbs that are added to each dish make every dish personable and gives the menu a variety of dishes that can be put together. Just ask Ms. Sabina about her herbs and spices. She makes her own mixes and she can, and will, tell you everything that is in them. Overall I had a fantastic experience and do plan on making another visit (when I can avoid the Atlanta traffic). I promise you, if you are in the market for some authentic African food, then you should stop by Motherland Kitchen.
BEST Peanut Butter Soup EVER!!!. Peanut Butter Soup was so good I wanted to lick the plate! Egusi was excellent. Pepper Soup was delicious! Very family oriented atmosphere. Our food was made to order, hot and fresh. Owner served our food hot with a smile. After we had eaten, the Owner came by to check on us and truly valued our opinions. EXCELLENT food. We live 4 hours away, but this food is well worth the drive!
