Best Indian food in Atlanta. We have eaten at Bhojanic and Swapna and this place wins! It’s definitely not as fancy as the others but the food is MUCH better. Just know this place is BYOB so bring your own alcohol. There’s a package store across the street.
Excellent Bangladeshi and Indian Food. I have been here several times now, both for the lunch buffet and for dinner service. The staff are some of the nicest people I have met in the restaurant world and the service is top notch. The place is super clean and the decor is nice. The buffet has a somewhat limited selection, but the quality is much better than most places. Dinner, in my opinion, is where this place really shines, though. The Panahar Special Biryani is delicious; Shrimp, lamb, and chicken in wonderfully spiced biryani rice (try it with Raita). It even has whole cardamom pods in it, which I absolutely love! Every entree is good, with my favorites being Shaag Maang-sho (chopped spinach, onions, and tomatoes) and the Bhoona Maang-sho (stir fry with onions, tomatoes, and green peppers). You get to choose between chicken, beef, lamb, goat, or shrimp for your protein. The Pakoras are some of the best I’ve had, as are the naan variants (garlic and cheese are the two I normally get).Oh, and this place is BYOB… without a corking fee. At least, not for beer (I’ve never brought a wine bottle). It’s nice to bring in a beer that you specifically have chosen to pair with your meal.If you’re into Indian food, or similar cuisines, then you definitely need to go try Panahar. Whether it’s for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, or the excellent dinner entrees, you will leave happy.
Best Place in Atlanta. This is my favorite place in Atlanta. Great food, nice if a little chatty service, BYOB with no corkage fee. I love this place. Don’t miss out on the onion tomato chutney. I could eat it with a spoon and bread.
New favorite restaurant. Service was awesome, and the food was fantastic. The mango drink they make homemade is delicious as well as their homemade baked yogurt which they served us on the house because we were first time guests.
Great experience. I’ve never had Bangladeshi food so I can’t comment on the authenticity of it. However, what I can say was the food was tasty and the service was excellent – yes, really excellent. It was some of the most attentive service I’ve had in Atlanta at a restaurant. Rubio (or was it Ruben?) was super great. He made a spot-on recommendations for us based on things we were interested in trying out. Definitely worth the trip – we will be back.
Gross. I am from Bangladesh and Panahar isn’t an Indian restaurant, it is a Bangladeshi restaurant. The food is awful, but it might taste good to people who have not tried real Bangladeshi foods. It’s terrible and the service is bad. Food is not authentic and lacks flavor. Cooks should be ashamed of what they’ve made. Anybody who enjoys the food there lacks taste buds.
