French, without the attitude. A very pleasant dining experience, more like country French than anything Paris or any other major city can muster. Comfortable environment. Nice live music. Good bar with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Darryl was our server. I had escargot followed by Coquilles St. Jacques – awesome. Paired with a Viognier wine. My wife had the beet salad followed by the stuffed chicken breast. She raved. Our guests had grilled salmon on house-special potato crisps. Dessert was a shared creme brulee. Though a bit harried due to a last-minnute short-staffing issue – Darryl was quick, helpful and good spirited. The whole staff was a refreshing departure from the stuffy & starched, pencil-thin mustached, fake-french-accent with condescending attitude which is so much the routine at many in-town French restaurants. Will return!
Event. Violette was our host to an alumni event of 70 people on 5/12/12 and did a wonderful job. The staff was excellent and met our every need. Their restaurant is simply lovely, warm and inviting; the food is wonderful. Manager/event planner Jonathan was very easy to work with and allowed me to plan an event held in Georgia all the way from Wisconsin with no stress. They even set up a wine tasting during our cocktail hour. A great little treasure in Atlanta!
Authentic. The menu offers classic French dishes as reasonable prices. The atmosphere and staff was very professional and friendly. Near me dining was a man speaking with a thick French accent. I had escargot and Coq au Vin and they were so very good.
We were very disappointed. We recieved horrible service and mediocre food. It was quite expensive for what we got.
A French Gem. It’s super easy to drive right by this place without even noticing it. Don’t make that mistake! We were looking for a nicer than usual date night spot and Violette satisfied supremely. Great atmosphere with live piano & cozy little tables for two everywhere. Our server was very nice & not overly attentive. Their salad selection is absolutely fantastic. I was tempted to order a salad to start and then another for my entree; they all sounded so wonderful! I got the tomato caprese & Drew got their house greens with goat cheese. Both were perfect. Drew ordered the special, which was reminiscent of a seafood stew except hollandaise sauce replaced what would normally be broth. Honestly, his scallops were poor quality (gritty and tough), but everything else was heavenly. I had the filet mignon, which was very oddly cut; it didn’t look like a filet, but as soon as I tasted it I realized it was just cut funny. It was melt in your mouth delicious. My only complaint is that they were quite heavy-handed with the rosemary. Everything on the menu was rosemary this, rosemary that. Each dish even comes out with a sprig of rosemary jammed upright into your potatoes. A bit ridiculous, but it’s something you can definitely overlook considering the overall experience. Violette’s piece de resistance is most definitely the almond pear tart. I have never had such a blissful dessert in my life. Work out the quality issues & adjust the price a tiny bit and it’ll be a true winner.
Good food, nice atmosphere. Waited wasn’t as versed in the menu as I would have liked. Reasonably priced.
Dinner Lacking – Lunch Great. I’ve eaten lunch here several times and have always had a great experience, but I always order the same thing because it is so good (Bouche la Reine).I decided to have dinner recently and wanted to order something different. I ordered the crayfish bisque and it was very tasty but not very hot. I also had an arugula and endive salad and it should have been called arugula salad with and endive garnish. There were literally 7 small leaves of endive under a mound of arugula. For my entree’ I decided on the NY Strip Steak (Matre d’Htel Caf de Paris) with herbed butter, capers, garlic, and mustard. It arrived medium rare as ordered and piping hot. The flavor was good but it had to be one of the toughest pieces of NY Strip I have ever had.The servers seemed short staffed and service was way too slow for a weeknight for my taste.Lunch here has been fantastic but my first dinner was definitely lacking in almost every category. I will give it another chance for dinner and they will continue to get my lunch business for sure.
