My first time eating here and my wife and I love it. The meals were hot out of the oven and server’s were excellente’. Martin is excellent he took care of us from beginning to end, very professional young man. I will be returning to this Resturant with friends and family. Kudo’s to the Havana South Cuban team.
I had the Cuban sandwich and it was very good. We also spilt two orders of Plaintain’s that made you want a million of them. Food came out quick and was satisfying.
Masitas de Puerco. Me and my husband loved this place. Food was really good! Portions are huge and delicious! I will come back and I do recommend! 🙂
Wow!!!! I have to say that the previous person that commented doesn’t know what she’s missing. I have been to Havana South several times since they opened 5 years ago and I can tell you that it has always been great. Yea there have been some changes but the changes are for the better. I was just there with my girlfriend on Tuesday night. It was busy, the service was great and the Masitas was as good as always. Havana South has a good thing going and if this lady doesn’t want to come back then this restaurant doesn’t need people like that to eat there. More for the rest of us. BTW I was born in Cuba and lived in Miami. I would not eat Cuban anywhere else when I come to Atlanta.
Changes again?. I have been going to Havana South for the last 4 years. There has been lots of changes that we have noticed, owners and management. Every time we have gone there has been a new manager. We have been very happy every time until this past Sunday. As soon as we walked in my 11 year old daughter told me they changed it again. When we sat and I looked towards the kitchen I noticed that the regular cook was not there. We ordered what we always order never change. Our food sat at the take window for over 10 minutes. When it was brought to me and I looked at it I asked the server have you all changed management again? Her answer no I said what about cook she said he is no longer here. The bistec empanizado I ordered was WAY over cooked to where I could not put the fork through it and the sweet plantains were black I mean I like them cooked but not burnt. The manager came to the table and I explained my concerns she did offer to take the plate to make it better and I know better than to send a plate back. But when I asked her where was the cook was she said he does not work Sundays but the truth is he no longer works there, she then began to tell me she was there for 4 years NOPE I have been going there forever and I have never seen her. Now she did not charge me for my plate and I can appreciate that. But I did notice the man in the next table also returned his plate. It is a shame that this place has lost there chef and that it is not the same anymore. We will not be returning for sure. I am cuban and I know what cuban food needs to taste like and it was not that. Although my daughters plate was very good. Never again.
Better than Papi’s…. This place is more authentic than the Papi chain in ATL but it’s hit or miss on the food and the service. Been there more that a hand full of times and I still can’t figure out which days are going to be awesome and which days this place is a 4.0/10 it’s really like the lottery sometimes you win a little but most of the time you loose.. if you want to try it go during lunch it’s cheaper and worth a shot, don’t order off dinner menu though……
