  This was the most authentic Mexican meal I have had since working in Matehuala SLP. The meats, sauces, menu, store, etc. was very authentic. I had the smoked chicken, as they run the smoker on Friday. I would like to return soon to have a torta, and again for carnitas. Overall a great experience and great food. It has become a local favorite and for very good reason. Definitely not the typical tex-mex so prevalent in the area.

  Authentica. El Sol is a Hispanic grocery store but has a small kitchen and dining area where one can enjoy some more authentic Mexican entrees. It is not fancy, but does offer an experience that is more reminiscent of what one would expect in an un-Americanized restaurante. I ordered a Steak Burrito, which comes with rice and beans. The burrito is topped with fresh avocado and some excellent white queso! The burrito is very tasty. The rice and beans were bland but this was easily fixed by adding some of the salsas . One particular looks to be red crushed peppers in an oil-based sauce. It really packs some burn. The chips looked to be a fried flour tortilla which is delightfully different. My favorite food that I sampled would have to be the guacamole! Fantastic!!! As of February, 2017, the owners have remodeled the restaurant section of the establishment. It is now separate from the grocery store and is much more inviting.
