I’ll be back. (JUST LIKE THE COOK SAID). I’d recommend disregarding what J. Lowrey said. I’m from out of town and stopped by for lunch. I thought the service and food were both great. The place was busy but the owner, cook, and waitress all greeted me with enthusiasm and made me feel welcome. I had a steak burger with fries and gravy and it hit the spot. I’m looking forward to stopping by again. I would recommend 4-Way Lunch to anyone looking for a cool, hometown. friendly place.
Me and four others went to 4 way for lunch. The restaurant is small and dirty and the menu is very small, just burgers and hotdogs. All of this could be ignored if the food was good. Instead our burgers and fries were kept under a heat lamp and were thus dry and tasteless. Beyond this, they didn’t have enough fries cooked so, rather than cooking more, she told me that I could only have half an order and one of my guests that he couldn’t have fries. At this point two of my friends left to eat somewhere else. The waitress was incredibly sarcastic and hostile. It was obvious that we weren’t welcome, as it was near closing time (3pm). Maybe this place is a hometown favorite and they overlook the awful service and mediocre-at-best food, but for an out-of-towner it is offensive and unacceptable. Save your money and get some fast food, you’ll get on par food and at least twice the courtesy.
This place is truly a salt of the earth diner. Eating breakfast here this morning reminds me of the local diners I used to go to with my Dad when I was a kid back in the early 80’s. The food is no frills. It is just homemade, grandmas cooking. The food was solid, southern comfort staples. Although the exterior looks like this place has been here for 80 years, the inside is very clean and the kitchen equipment is also very clean and well maintained. Don’t come in the place if you don’t like to be sociable. This is obviously where Cartersville locals come to hang out. Everyone knew everyone else there. Again, this adds to the local character of this place, which I love.
Classic 1920’s Lunch Joint. I love this place.I’ve lived in Cartersville for about 20 years and until this year (2012), had never eaten in 4-Way Lunch because it looked like one corner of it was sinking into the ground, and because it looked like it was built in the 1920’s.It WAS built in the 1920’s.This year I took the plunge and actually ate there.Wow.Double Wow.$1.95 hamburger made fresh from unfrozen ground beef.Extremely thin menu. Hamburger, hot dog, chicken. That’s it. But that’s all you need. One of the specialties is gravy fries. Yeah, I know. But try them before you write them off. There’s 8 stools in the front, and room for 3 to sit in the back.Don’t ask for pasta primavera unless you want to get your ass kicked. When you’re through eating, get up and let someone else have your bar stool.Very plain and simple and straightforward.Have someone take a picture of you standing in front of the building because when you get back home nobody will ever believe that you ate there. No web page. Well, they got along just fine since the 1920’s without one, so who needs one now.Lots of people eat there every day.I heard they also serve breakfast, but have never been up early enough to confirm that.
4-Way Diner. This has been a family tradition: my father-in-law took my husband to eat here, he takes our kids when they are in town, and now our grandkids go with their Pa-Pa to eat here, too. Save room for the fried peach or apple pie with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
AWESOME!!. Been going there since a little girl – look forward to the trip every time I get a chance!! : )
Try it, you will go again and again and again! Nothing fancy just good burgers, dawgs and fries.
