Have you ever seen a burrito the size of a grown man’s forearm? Have you ever seen a grown man finish a burrito that’s the size of a grown man’s forearm? That’s what went down today at La Costilla Grill on Buford Highway.Scott ran 10 miles this morning, and from the looks of things, worked up quite an appetite, so we decided to try La Costilla because we’d read so many good things about it on Yelp.We started out with two horchatas, which were gigantic!Their horchata was very good, although I have to admit that the horchata at Taco Veloz is probably my favorite in Atlanta (more cinnamon).We were also served a complimentary basket of chips with three salsas. The green salsa was definitely our favorite. Scott, as you saw in the photos above, feasted on the steak burrito, and I ordered two steak tacos at a very reasonably priced $2.95 each. The tortillas were most definitely home made and very fresh, filled with incredibly tender and juicy steak bits, and topped off with really tasty guacamole.I also had several bites of Scott’s burrito, which I have to say was a.ma.zing. It was filled with steak, refried beans, rice and cheese. I also tasted an adobo type seasoning. Scott said it’s the best burrito he’s ever had.La Costilla (which is the spanish word for ribs), is in the Crossroads Village Shopping Center, near the intersection of Buford Highway and Clairmont. There are lots of TVs, and it has a sports bar vibe. We found the wait staff to be extremely friendly. We spoke a little bit of Spanish with our server, which she definitely appreciated, but her English was solid. The menu is also in English, so there were definitely no communication issues for us.Lunch, including tip was $31.00. We went before 12:30 on a Sunday, so we missed the opportunity to sample their beers or margaritas, but we did see lots of people ordering cervezas and Micheladas on our way out. bufordhighwayadventures.blogspot.com

Had an enjoyable brunch. We were a bit over served at a party last night and needed some food. Decided to give this place a try. Very tasty chips and 4 salsas quickly brought out while we waited for friends to join us. Our son loved the fresh squeezed orange juice and I enjoyed a draft Victoria beer. Friends showed and orders placed. And we waited for food. Very few customers so the wait made no sense. Waited some more. Food arrived in waves. My wife had the shrimp cocktail and it was very tasty. Our son had the seafood soup, which had a very flavorful broth and he gave it a thumbs up. Daughter had sopas and she demolished them with relish. I had the three taco combo: fish, shrimp, and al pastor. All perfectly fine but not as good as El Rey Del Taco and pricey at 10 bucks. Service was quite good overall and attentive. I will go with grilled meat next time. One of our friends had kebabs and he proclaimed them quite delicious.
