  • This is the quintessential meat and three. The food is standard but relatively tasty. The rolls are store bought- homemade yeast rolls would be nice. …

Disappointed visitor from Atlanta. While visiting Chatsworth, we decided to try Edna’s for lunch, and seeing the parking lot was full, we assumed that we were in for a real treat. However, an hour later, I walked back to the car still hungry and disgruntled. Here’s what happened… I’d ordered fried flounder, mashed potatoes, fried okra, a corn muffin & iced tea. The flounder arrived with a thick, dense greasy breading,. Looking for the meat and trying to avoid the unhealthy-looking batter, I realized that the left half was only batter and had no fish inside, and the right half had slimy, undercooked meat in it. I asked our waitress to bring a flounder that was cooked properly and focused on the veggies while I waited for my new entree. Well, the okra was greasy and had not been blotted, and the mashed potatoes were instant. Probably the okra and flounder had been frozen. About 20 minutes later a new flounder arrived, and it was worse than the first serving. Oh, I forgot to mention the very dry corn muffin. As hungry as I was, I only ate half of it… and the tea was possibly instant or at best over-steeped and too strong. Our waitress was kind and tried to be helpful, but she appeared stressed. I suppose I wasn’t the only diner with complaints. We gave her a nice tip since it wasn’t her fault, but we’ll never return to Edna’s. My question is, if the food is this bad, why was the parking lot so full??? Also, why does Edna’s get 4 stars on this website?

This is a special place. I went with a group of 10 friends recently and was very impressed with the level of service, the food, and if you don’t try the peanut butter pie while you are here you have surely missed out on one of the best desserts on the planet. The only marginal item I had was the fried chicken breast. Although the taste was great it was just a little on the dry side. It is well worth a visit if you happen to be passing through.

Great Country Food. …just like your grandmother used to make. They close early and pack in quickly. Get there early if you want a seat. Great food and great desserts.
