Average food, cool little country place. Had the chopped pork plate, my son had the baby back ribs. My chopped pork had decent smokiness and the table bbq sauce complimented in well, although the pork was chopped a lot finer than I prefer. The pork was not juicy, but it was not real dry either. The tater salad was completely flavorless and the baked beans were of the canned variety. My son liked his ribs, but the fries were very greasy. I’ve driven by this place several times over the last few years never quite knowing what it was and always thought it looked a bit sketchy. Why? The wood they use to smoke the pork is split in the small front yard of the business. There are literal logs and split wood piled 6′ high in the front yard which hides most of the building from the street. Once you enter the driveway and work your way around the wood there stands a well-kept little shack that is nicely decorated with antiques. I liked the country quaintness of the place, but overall Amos fell to average (at best) on flavor. However, I will give them another shot sometime for breakfast, hoping they might have just missed the marked on my first visit.

Unbeliveable…. Great location and ambiance, terrible food. I really expect great things from mom an pop locations like Amos’ BBQ and really enjoy giving my business to my own community as opposed to chains and big name businesses but I can’t do it here. I spent over $30 for me plus one. My dinner was supposed to include pound of chopped chicken that had a decent smoky aroma but had the consistency of canned boiled chicken, a half pound of brisket- which was chopped…partly my error as I assumed a properly smoked brisket would be sliced but it had the consistency of chopped dried beef reconstituted with liquid smoke. We also had baked beans and tater salad for sides. The beans were straight out of the can, nothing special. The tater salad had a good taste but I believe it was a few days over its date. We did not have a problem with the sweet tea or our side order of texas toast. I really do wish places like this would have the opportunity to make a come back and thrive in our communities. I am a foodie and am very passionate about food but not food thats cooked then reheated in a microwave for service. side note: the red flag should have been raised when I was asked if I wanted my pound and half of meat cold or hot…

This is one of the best BBQ places on the north side, the pork is always great and the fried pickles are great. Just had the potato salad and it was very good.I don’t care for the stew but many rave about it. Only other negative is lack of seating. This place is always busy too.

First and last visit. The staff was friendly and the service time was reasonable. That is all I can say that is positive. The fries were soggy and over cooked, the coleslaw was dry, the barbeque pork was fatty and poorly seasoned. and the brunswick stew was fair at best. Above all the prices were too high for what you get. I had looked forward to this visit, but will not return. There are too many better barbecue restaurants out there, so keep looking.

I finally stopped trying brunswick stew at other places, cause it just couldn’t compare to Amos’ recipe. I’ve traveled all over the southeast, and this is one of my favorite places yet. I don’t even know how many times I’ve been, but I do know that I haven’t been disappointed yet. Best BBQ in North Georgia. Period.

My aunt and uncle’s restaurant (:. @Mark D, there are a couple things I could say about your review. The BBQ sauce? Home made. The chicken? Why would you order chicken at a BBQ restaurant? Duh.@everyone: This is an amazing little restaurant. They make thousands of dollars a week because people love it so much! They’re currently looking for a bigger space because it’s so jam packed most of the time. The BBQ is fantastic, so juicy and flavorful. The sauce is sweet, yet a little spicy. It’s just perfect! Oh and breakfast is great well, their little drive thru wraps around the building in the mornings. Brunswick stew is the best I’ve ever had. If you get a chance to go, try the fried pickles and apple sticks! They’re both fried, every time my family and I go we get a ton of orders of fried pickles. Oh gosh, they’re good. My mouth is watering. Everything is made fresh to order! Great great great food. The decor is adorable too! An old timed themed little shack, decorated with photos and pig figurines, very cool and southern. Perfect for Georgia. Very worth while! (:

Lovely little location off the beaten path. I get a biscuit from Amos’s every morning. I go through phases between sausage biscuits, chicken biscuits… for the past few months I’ve been on a bacon biscuit binge. Awesome biscuits, awesome bacon. And they don’t skimp on the bacon, either. 😉 Very friendly staff, who have somehow memorized all of my family’s cars and the corresponding orders, and have our food ready for us every morning. <3 this place!
