One star for good service and one star for the specialty mixed drink. The food was putrid. The Whiskey steak was tough and stringy. The Reuben was embarrassingly small with little meat. The half order of Fish and Chips presented with two small strips of cod-mostly fried batter. I suggest you fill up with alcoholic drinks first then eat the food. This is an honest review not meant to hurt feelings but to learn from.

This was the first time I tried Donovans. I took a chance based on the positive reviews. I am very particular about what and where I dine; I have high expectations. Donovans is in the process of remodeling so I dont know what the future holds for replacing the dark and dingy interior.A previous reviewer mentioned the use of salt, and this was a deal killer for me too. I love good fish and chips, which is virtually impossible to find in GA. Donovans beer batter has the potential to be really great, but it was so salty I could barely eat it. Im talking way over salty! This is the same batter used on the onion rings which were ruined by it. These two items have real potential if not over salted. I believe in no salt or minimal; let the customer add salt to their taste. I cant imagine justifying the huge quantity of salt in what would have been a truly great beer batter. My wife ordered the Cranberry Walnut Turkey Sandwich and was disappointed by the lack of cranberries. The sparse cranberries and walnuts are mixed in an aioli. The cranberries need to be by themselves, with a side if requested. This was a basic turkey sandwich which is available at Chilis, Arbys, etc.Lastly, I understand this is a bar. That said, when I was there a collection of barflies were watching football. It got very loud and very rambunctious. This is not my ideal setting. If Donovans can stop the extreme over salting, I would consider returning for lunch.
