Another Delectable Dinner. I like to have dinner at Ege right before the New Year. Another Great meal! I need to remind you all, this is a small establishment. There are only 2 servers and when one does not show up only one woman is serving the whole restaurant, but don’t fret you will get taken care of! On rare occasion some of the items get brought out at different times as prepared. People tend to order a lot of Sushi so your entree may be ready before your sushi as there are only 2 sushi chefs. Be patient and be Rewarded for it! Had my favorite meal, the Chicken Teriyaki dinner with an order of Yellowtail Sushi roll and Tako (Octopus nigiri). If you are tempted to go for the Steak Teriyaki, it is indeed good, but just know this is perfect moist succulent chicken meat at the height of flavor. It’s just done so well, that no matter how good other options are, I can’t deny myself this meal 9/10 times. Also be aware at dinner time to ask for the Specials menu to see their full offerings! It is mostly in Japanese so be sure to ask if you aren’t sure what the specials are. Everything is just so good here!28 Oct, 2012This is one of the Best restaurants in Atlanta. I’ve been going to Ege for years, lunch & dinner timer . Some occasions back in college I went for lunch and dinner same day. Ege serves a Perfect meal Every Time. The only place with slightly better Sushi is Hayakawa. If you are looking for the overall best authentic Japanese cuisine in Atl (probably the whole state) Ege is the place. The teriyaki sauce here is unlike any teriyaki anywhere and is absolutely delectable. The meat is always cookec perfectedly moist and seasoned and balanced. The first meal I ordered here was the Chicken Teriyaki dinner which came with miso soup, salad with ginger dressing(their version of the dressing is supreme), green tea, bowl of Perfect steamed short grain rice(haven’t tasted rice done so well anywhere else at all!), a piping hot tray with mushrooms, spring onions, scallions with generous cuts of moist chicken on top with the best tasting teriyaki sauce anyone will ever have, & green tea ice cream. All that food and quality for under $15. I like to order the salmon roll and the shrimp tempura roll with a side spicy mayo. If you go for lunch, get the combination plate chicken teriyaki and grilled mackeral. When you try this mackeral, you will question every other fish experience in your life, it is that good! I have also eaten once a month japanese curry special with tonkatsu(fried pork), the steak teriyaki, Unadon. All Great! Ege is so great in their execution, I feel I could literally eat there everyday, and even eat the same thing, for the rest of my life and be happy.
Service is horrible. People are plain rude. So rude that I don’t want even talk about their sushi. It’s beside the point.27 Aug, 2011Food is excellent, fresh, authentic. Specials are must!
Fabuloes sushi and great service. During lunch they serve authentic japaneese dishes, but be sure to go early as the place can get packed. Wonderful food and very friendly service. Looking for sushi in the northwest atlanta area? This is the place to go, it doesn’t get much better at the other places in the hood, ege sets the standard with quality sushi for a great price.
Unfriendly. My husband and I love sushi, but we have to travel a little far to get good quality, so when a friend recommended this place we thought we should try it as it is closer to home.We walked in, first impression was not good, but we sat down, and were told not to sit there, the waitress told us to sit on the other side of the bar, so we moved , sat down again and then the guy behind the bar started telling us to move again, at this point the other 2 people at the bar were staring and so were the other 2 tables. We finally sat and I was so incredibly uncomfortable with the treatment we received that I told my husband that I did not want to eat somewhere where they treated their customers with such rudeness.I am a VERY patient person, it takes a lot to get me mad.. this was a very terrible experience. I can’t critique the food because their attitude did not allow me to feel comfortable enough to sit and give them a try.My suggestion to EGE sushi is to learn some manners.
People Waiting to Open. We had a great meal there tonight. It opened right at 5:00 with three tables waiting outside. It is a hole-in-the-wall, only seven or eight tables plus the bar, and the tables could use a tablecloth, but we are going back. Owned and run by a Japanese family so it is very authentic with a large, esoteric menu. Service was friendly and good, the sushi was excellent and fresh, and where the sushi rice was a little loose – just they way its supposed to be.
Love this place!. I have been going to this place for over 4 years now and it’s awesome. The food is super fresh, the staff is very nice and the place is clean. The tempura is some of the best I have ever had, the fish is super fresh, and Tomo and Terry really know how to make their sushi. This a real Japanese restaurant, not the fake Chinese/Thai/Japanese we make sushi places. You will only get authentic food here. You know this place is great when you see tons of Japanese people here week after week. That’s true of any cultural food, if you want to know if it’s authentic look at the people eating there. It’s worth a try from anyone. Enjoy!
If deep fried sushi rolls, covered with sweet sauces is your idea of good sushi, you might not like Ege. This is authentic Japanese sushi by a classically trained sushi chef. Ege, the owner, keeps the place clean and uses very fresh ingredients which are well liked by the large crowd of regular Japanese patrons. I’ve had better sushi, but only in Hawaii. If youwant to feel you’re in a small eatery in Japan, give Ege a try.
