Terrible service, gyro was too salty, fries were burned and fatty. They refused to take the fries off the check even though we sent them back. Server and owner/manager were whispering about us. Waited 15 min for anyone to say hello and they forgot my wine, which was tiny for $8. Table and menu were filthy. Will never go back. Such a shame.
Stick with what’s good. With metal ceilings, tile floors and consecrate walls Christo’s new location can get as loud as Grand Central Station even when it is only partially full. I had had an architect tell me that restaurants are being constructed this way deliberately. Owners want patrons in and out as fast as possible and a high noise level helps assure a speedier turnover.Instead of going with my usual vegetarian gyro platter, I strayed from my tried and true selection and went with the falafel plate. Big mistake. The falafel was severely undercooked, almost to the point of being runny. The falafel mixture within the barely fried exterior would have spread as easily as peanut butter. The falafel tasted fine although it could have definitely benefited from more spices. Accompanying the falafel was Christos version of Greek potatoes. They were essentially soggy potato wedges with no detectable seasonings. Again, the taste was not unpleasant, just bland. Fortunately doctoring up the potatoes with grated Parmesan, sirachi sauce or tahini made them acceptably palatable. In addition to the lack of preparedness detail with the falafel entre it is exceptionally overpriced at $12.00. Lesson learned, next time itll be the ol reliable and decidedly superior veggie gyro and steak fries.Christos Greek pizza is always consistently superb. This time was no exception. It is uniquely flavorful and one of the few Greek pizzas available in the surrounding area. Taking quantity, quality and price into consideration, Christos cheese pizza is satisfying good as far as taste and value. Our server was friendly and overall attentive but a bit chatty to the point of being annoying.More and more restaurants are going high tech with electronic tablets being used for order taking and billing. I am all for it unless the software design is flawed. Christos servers use an iPad that does not permit the patron to see their itemized order until they put in the gratuity and write their name in the signature window. Once the customer signs they are taken to another screen where the individual items and prices are shown but they can be partially blocked by a selection window. The process of paying the bill was an extremely frustrating one. Management needs to seriously consider a software change.I give 4 stars to their pizza and 2 stars to their falafel.
Service. Food is great, portions huge, service, NOT. Rude and slow!
While the food is decent, it is not worth the service one gets…it takes a long time to get your order and to get your check whenever you are done…it is poorly run
$60 for a family of 4. Had high hopes for the food but it’s just cheap ingredients, basic nothing special about any of the flavors. Not even the hummas…Just really bland, simple food. I would not go back. Waitress was grumpy too.
Generous Portions. First time here–we both ordered the gyro’s. HUGE! The meat was piled on and nice and thick and flavorful. Loved it although at $8.95 for just the wrap, I would prefer a less generous portion and a lower price. I ate half there and took the other half home to avoid that guilty over ate feeling! If all food is really super generously sized, the prices are good. However, for me, if I spend a lot in a restaurant, I’d like atmosphere. This place is huge and the seating is not very appealing and the floor looked dirty. We were sitting right next to some kind of long spill that looked like it happened days ago. The kitchen is right out in the open and looks very clean which is fantastic as that is what matters but no ambiance in the dining area at all. And all that sits on the table are salt and pepper shakers. The flatware though was thick and sturdy–so many restaurants, even those higher priced ones, use thin, cheap flatware. The server did her job well but was not notably friendly.I would go back to try more of their food but probably get it to go.
Grinders not so great. Use to be a frequent diner before they moved locations, and visited today for lunch. To my surprise, their grinders are increased in price, and decreased in quality. the lettuce is wilted, almost brown, and the sub itself has no flavor whatsoever. will not be visiting Christos again.
