  SubRas looked like a great find from outside close from my place and I am always excited to try new Indian places to quench my weekend hunger of serious Indian food deprivation.Service : We went to SubRas on a week night (I think Wednesday) to find it almost deserted (I saw 5 people inside in total – 3 leaving and 2 seated), but waited almost 15 minutes for our Maitre D / Owner to get us seated as he was chatting up with a couple who was leaving the place. Kind of annoying but we still sat through it patiently.We got a table and were quickly given menu – but nobody came to take orders for forever (15 minutes is kind of forever when you are famished) . During this time I kept looking at the menu and hoping the taste would make for it (the decor was non-descriptive)Taste : We ordered a paapdi chaat, a yellow daal tadka, Bullet naan, raita and salted lassi. Daal was too squishy and had baby-food kind of consistency to it, which made it look extremely unappetizing, but was okay in taste (I still won’t say it was great, it was just edible). The chaat missed the point of being a chaat (spicy and sweet) from a mile and the golgappe had a stale /weird taste to it. The chutney served with the complimentary papad smelt a bit funny and even after adding it by kilograms to our chaat couldn’t save it. Raita, Naan and plain rice were perfect – but they were the accompaniments – not the entree. Total food disaster.Damage : After tip, around $14, which isn’t bad considering indian food is expensive than typical american fast food.Would I go again? NEVER! Avoiding it all on cost going forward.
