Serviceable Chinese food. But this is Dalton. Their hidden gem is their steamed pot stickers. The rest is standard. Sadly, Panda Express tastes better…

Fortune Cookie’s new location. As of January 2015, The Fortune Cookie has moved to 801 East Walnut Ave, Suite J in Dalton, in the Dalton RV strip mall. They have much more parking area now and the food is as tasty as ever.12 May, 2015Fortune Cookie. The very best hot & sour soup in the area.

My Misfortune…. It seems like this place has been around forever, and as much as I like asian food, I had never set foot in here until today. Probably because I tend to prefer mexican food in dalton and chinese in chattanooga. Nevertheless, there are some of both that I will try in both locations. It seems like the restaurants in brymans continue to slide… it’s a shame because you can see the dated but nice decor inside. Since it is chinese, it is classic and beautiful but just looking like it needs some shine. I bet this was a rocking place when it opened up and now it gets by on take out and delivery. Only one other group came in to eat while we were there, Five or so take out orders went out. There were three of us tonight. I don’t think any of us were very favorable on the veggie rolls,as they were a little soft on the inside. I think they were deep fried too hot… I was the only one that ventured to try a soup. OK for hot and sour, with shrimp in it. That is something we do at a chinese buffet, add a couple shrimp but this is the first place we found that does that… On to the entrees…since we go to chinese places quite often, I suggested trying dishes that had different names… and I do not ever recall something called chinese embassy beef! It was just so-so… the beef was more like chinese buffet beef, it seemed slightly tender, yeah I said that! Like it had been beaten with a tenderizer to get it where it was. The sauce was a little too sweet. The portion size was okay. The house special chicken was probably a better entree… since the chicken was the right texture. Portion size was fine on this one too. Rice was cooked well and the chili sauce was uniquely made, more like a hot salsa than the usual chili sauce you get most of the time. All in all, it just would not be necessary to come back…sort of reminds me of momo ya, probably really good at one time, but sad to say that time has past.
