The Gula Report. I had lunch here with a party of 16 a couple of weeks ago. I’ve never did a full report on this establishment, so why not now?1. Atmosphere – The dining room has a charm to it which is probably due to good color coordination. There are pictures of historical African Americans hanging around the room. There is an effort to create an ambience here. I’ll give them 3.5 forks!!!.2. Cleanliness – This restaurant is very clean. I saw had no cleanliness issues. Health score was in the high 90s. 4.5 Forks !!!!.3. Service – Average to slightly above average. I think they handled the large party very nicely. 3.5 forks!!!.4. Quality of food – I ordered the Ribs and Catfish. Catfish was good. Ribs were alright, I do however wished the ribs would not come out with the sauce already applied. Onion Petals were very good. Brunswick Stew is good, a little different that most traditional BS. Three Forks!!!5. Value – I feel the prices are about average. 3 Forks!!!Final Score: 3.5 FORKS!!!. Not bad. This is a decent little BBQ joint. Not the best around but very good, especially considering its history. The Millers started very small decades ago, and its always nice to see local business still thriving in our small American neighborhoods. They must be doing something right.23 Mar, 2011Killer Miller Sauce!. We went to Miller Brothers today. This restaurant has been in business for 29 years. It started as a smoker and picnic tables, and has evolved into a nice dine-in establishment. I had the smoked half chicken, baked beans, brunswick stew, & onion petals. Chicken was great, beans were tasty, brunswick stew was very good IMO. Its texture and amount of meat appealed to me personally, though others may prefer a much thicker tomato based stew. The onion petals were FANTASTIC. The sauce was decent, but the most noteworthy sauce is the Dragon Lady! You have to ask for this stuff. It is HOT! Service was average, prices were decent. Atmosphere is calm and peaceful. There are pictures of African American figures decorating the dining room, so this is interesting. Health score was 94.
Bad BBQ Sauce. Went with some friends and none of us enjoyed the meal. Restaurant was clean but that is all I can say good about our visit. The meat was floating in sauce, enough sauce on a plate for 4 or 5 plates. Even if the sauce had been good (which it wasn’t) there was way to much. It was like they were trying to hide the tast of the meat. Way to many good BBQ places around to spend money on this.
Worst BBQ I’ve had in a longtime. Never will I go here again. Food was bad along with slow unfriendly service. A big let down.
Great ribs. Cooked low and slow these folks are pit masters to be sure. it’s a fine fine bbq joint.
