Not a Buffet?????. We stopped for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. To say that it was crowded is a huge under statement. A crowd is usually a good sign, but I must say that I was a little deterred when the line was was out the door. We pressed on with our party of nine, but had some strange surprises arise. Keep in mind that this is a buffet-style restaurant …no menu. One in our party arrived earlier to get us a table. He was told by one server to go ahead and put some tables together, so he proceeded to save us some tables. Then another server came and told him that he wasn’t allowed to do that and that he would have to go through the buffet line before he could reserve a table. In other words, get your food first then find a table to eat at. He relayed this message to us where we had not paid yet, as it is a pay-first establishment. We had decided to go somewhere else, but the hostess assured us that a table would be available when we got through the line. We decided to take her word and sure enough the dining area was cleared out after our ten-fifteen minute stroll through the line. I personally believe that this was a result of considerate customers who cleared out to make room for others. They really need some waiting benches, roped lines to organize their food line. That issue worked itself out, but still families with children were a little more inconvenienced. Now for the big surprise!!! I’ve eaten here several times and always have dined in an all-you-can-eat fashion. Everything is self serve….plates, food, drinks, etc. Everyone I know that eats here has always treated it as an all-you-can-eat food bar. Well, today there were signs posted that stated: Even though we serve our food buffet style, we are not an All-you-can-eat restaurant. Please limit one plate per customer….. We asked the hostess when did they change and she replied that they were never an all-yo-can-eat restaurant!!! But, she said if we wanted another serving of something it’s alright to return, just not to get too much!!!! What? That sounds like a definition of a buffet to me. Very strange. I don’t know if this sudden shift will have a positive impact on the business. Restaurants that usually make a drastic change after they have been established for a while, do not do well. The food was good, but the self-serve, but not a buffet thing turns me off. Imagine me standing in line with my wife and child trying to make our own plates in a one-trip fashion. We can’t return because the line is so long and it’s not a buffet. Confused….11 Oct, 2011Little Guys Eat Free. I like that they let the small children eat FREE. We ate here today and NO COMPLAINTS! Chicken and roast were both delicious along with the other buffet items. Ranch dressing…..fantastic. Raspberry Cheesecake…..wonderful! Everything GOOD.
