Real ‘chineses’ food.. Although we have hundreds of restaurants in Atlanta that claim to prepare Chinese food. Most of them you’ll never see a Chinese or otherwise Asian person in them – EVER. That’s because it’s not even close to anything you’ll ever eat in China. BBQ Corner is an exception, right down to the ‘chineses restaurant’ spelled out proudly on it’s aged signage. People come from out of state to eat at this restaurant. I love this place, love the staff and LOVE the food. I was introduced to this place 10 years ago by a fellow college student from Taipei. This was his favorite restaurant in Atlanta, along with Ming’s BBQ.There’s an American Chinese food section if you want it: kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, etc. It’s fine, but it’s not ‘Chinese’. Those dishes were evolved by lucrative Chinese restaurateurs over several decades to work with ingredients available in the US.First, when they seat you, ask for chrysathemum tea – it’s really nice. Then, try some of the BBQ: Roast Pig, Soy Sauce Chicken and the Roast Duck, in that order. always get greens of some sort: spinach with garlic sauce, snow pea leaves with garlic sauce, and my favorite, spinach with bean curd sauce. The sauce that they are referring to is like a broth. The greens are flash cooked at a very high temperature, so they are tender, but still very healthy. If they have some dim sum dessert left over, try a sesame ball with red bean paste inside. Be adventurous and stay away from familiar names, try some others like the hot pots, and my all time favorite: salt and pepper squid. I’m an american guy, born in Atlanta. I gave this food a shot 10 years ago, and I’ve been coming back over and over again. Just go in there and try it, it’s awesome!NOTE: if you read the health scoring sign, it’s always low. If you look really closely, they always get penalized by technicalities that would cost them lots of money to get rid of. Things like the exact distance of the bottom shelf of their dish racks from the ground, for example. I’ve been eating there forever, the score never changes, and I never get less than top quality food and service.
