I went without even knowing it was a tapas restaurant and after looking over the menu, I wasn’t convinced still! Not your usual small plate joint, every item was a small scale version of what would be a killer entree if ordered on its own. My party of five was able to fill the table with just about everything on the menu (and the daily board too!) and without exception, all were excellent. I mean, so good I had to ask to meet the chef. The owner was also making the rounds of tables so I had a long conversation about this relatively new venue, which is attached to his established wine and bottle shop. It’s worth getting that story, but too long for this review… So, if you visit, seek him out. I would have given 5 stars, but when you give 250.00 for a tapas dinner the service should be top notch…. Sadly, our waitress was clearly under water and I saw a few idle hands offering no relief. The ladies in our group waited on (expensive!) wine AND their initial plates (which made us gents wait to eat….none too easy!). In the end, it was made right with a free shrimp scampi dish that soothed THIS savage, at least…. Unbelievably good. All said, I was able to overlook some of the rough edges, since it is just getting off the ground. I’ll reserve my critique of the service to another visit… With food this good, they’ll be around for a while. In an established restaurant, this service would’ve knocked the review down to a 3.5…. Pretty serious faults. Still… I’ll be back!
