If you are looking for a real American Diner look no further!! The Duluth Diner immediately took me back to me back to my teenage years when I arrived to the United States from Dublin, Ireland. Upon entering the diner I was made feel very Welcome by all the staff. I was immediately seated and given my menu. The menu is absolutely amazing. My server immediately took my drinks order and gave me plenty of time to read over the menu. I ordered the Steak&Eggs with a side of toast. Everything was perfect! The coffe, steak, eggs and toast were perfect. Let me add the coffee and orange juice were perfect also. My server was awesome and checked in on me to see if I needed anything. You can tell the staff take a lot of pride in their jobs and the Duluth, Diner. The Duluth Diner is open Seven Days a Week. Now here is the best part. The Duluth Diner is perfect for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. It should be noted they offer amazing desserts also. The Duluth Diner is very clean and the rest rooms are clean also. Lastly I have traveled all over the world with the United States Marines, Originally from Ireland and traveled all over the United States. The Duluth Diner rates very high on my list of places due to all my past experiences. I definitely will be visiting the Duluth Diner in the near future. Lets be honest, we typically have a dim view of diners. Diners have a broad menu and our experience has not been good. In fact, our experience has been that the smaller the menu selections, the greater the chance that each one of those dishes is going to be a winner. When someone says the word diner, my mind is filled with chrome, patent leather and white and black tiled floors. Thats nothing like we found. We were soon seated, met our server and had our drinks in no time. I must say that our server took wonderful care of us throughout the meal and Melanie also commented to me that she was a very hard worker who was juggling multiple tables and did a fantastic job.Our expectations werent high, you might say, that we were almost fearful. Ah, the life of a food critic. Laurie ordered the Athenian Omelet that is a three egg omelet with tomatoes, feta cheese and gyro meat. She also got the grits and a biscuit. Melanie ordered the 3 egg omelet with Turkey Sausage and added green peppers, onions and cheddar cheese. She explained that she wanted the peppers and onions sauted before cooking the omelet. She chose the home fries and grits and upgraded to the bagel instead of the regular toast or biscuit. I chose the sausage three egg omelet with cheddar and got the home fries and the grits with the biscuit. We were in complete unison on our verdict. The food was beyond our expectations! Melanies omelet with her specific cooking instructions was delivered perfectly. The omelets were a big hit. I particularly liked that all of the ingredients were cut into perfectly bite-sized pieces. There were two hands-down show stealers though the grits were awesome! They mustve added heavy cream because they taste pretty darn close to Flying Biscuits Creamy Dreamy Grits. Absolutely delicious. The other surprise was the biscuits were dynamite! They were light, fluffy and were huge! In the South, we call them cathead biscuits, but these were square so you cant really call them that unless you know of any square-headed cats.We know where to go now when we want a reasonable breakfast, even if its not breakfast time anymore. They serve up breakfast right the food and service is really good, making Duluth Diner score on our list. Guten appetit! atlanta-food-critic.com
As far as diners go, this is a winner! Their biscuits did taste like they were previously frozen… But that is the only critique. Food was fantastic with an attentive staff. Ordered a bacon burger and western 3 egg omelet. Both were generous portions and delicious. Love local diners! A lot of character in this place!
