Another Korean adventure. GB from where my wife works gave this place a thumb up so while I was in the area I gave it a try. Some communication problems with the menu and the wait-staff but I finally settled on Soondae Kook, a dish that I had never tried before during my many visits to the restaurants and food court at Super H. Mart. It arrived still boiling with a generous handful of a variety of spices in a bowl with sausage (blood sausage?), some vegetables and perhaps some tripe. While it cooled I sampled the good variety of Ban Chan brought to the table and nibbled on the rice. The KimChi was very good, especially the Daikon KimChi, a couple other (unknown) offerings were very tasty as I let the hot stone bowl of soup cool a bit. The waitress did offer me a fork, but I stuck to the sticks and was able to drizzle some of the Ban Chan goodness into my rice and wait out the cooling soup. I was offered a second bowl where I could offload some of the soup to cool and to perhaps mix some rice with it to eat. The vegetables were tasty, the soup broth was pretty spicy but I expected and wanted that. The sausage was soft and flavorful (it seemed to have rice in its ingredients)? I like tripe well enough and it was cooked but slightly chewy and delicious. I give the restaurant high marks for its good food, and lower marks for it’s unwillingness to relate to their non-Korean reading customers. I was not the only non-Korean in the place and overheard the same issues I had being discussed with the staff. I will go back, I will bone up on the phonetic names of dishes that are on their menu and be better prepared next time.
