Well Bean has been one of my favorite Korean-comfort-food venues. They serve great side dishes and well-seasoned entrees. They offer stone-pot rice or steamed rice, depending on the day, and the banchan (side dishes) differ occasionally.I usually get the galbee (kbbq ribs) and kimchi soondooboo (soft tofu) soup. I like to ask for mine hot or extra hot (although it’s still not spicy for those who are familiar with hot plates), and the ribs come with the soup as a combo special.I went a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve noticed that the prices have gone up a couple of bucks. The combo that I bought ended up being about $18-19, which is pretty high for lunch. It used to be about $14-15 so I was definitely shocked.I would just advise people to go for their soondooboo soup, since that’s what it’s known for. If you are craving kbbq meat, there are a ton of kbbq joints in the Atlanta area (I believe Star Daepo serves soup as a banchan).Overall, I am a bit disappointed with the pricing changes, but the soup is for sure worth the try!!

Great Soondubu (Tofu Soup) Variety!. Well Bean’s is my favorite restaurant for some tasty tofu soup! They easily have a huge selection of tofu soups, with my favorites being the curry tofu soup or mixed seafood tofu soup. Yes, I know what you’re thinking-curry tofu soup….don’t be too quick to judge, it’s AMAZING!!! The inside is gorgeous, it’s always busy, especially at lunch time, and clean. Also, they have the best variety of banchans (side dishes) that come with every meal, at least ten different kinds, which is double what you typically find at other restaurants. I’m here at least 3-4 times a month, yum! bellavivere.blogspot.com

Great!. Well Bean tofu is a chain in Korea but don’t be alarmed by the franchising – their food actually tastes pretty good. Shocking, I know but stay with me here. The first thing you’ll notice looking through the menu is the large variety of jjigae they offer. Curry, ham&cheese soondubu? Yup, they have it here. Me? I’m more of a traditionalist so I stick with the usual stuff. Let me know how these unique flavors are if you try them out.As usual with any Korean restaurant, you’ll be welcomed by a generous variety of banchan that’s all pretty solid. The side of grilled fish is a nice, generous touch because not a lot of soondubu places in town offer that anymore. As for the soondubu, it’s pretty tasty. Comes out sizzling, it’s vibrant red and just spicy enough to leave a pleasant heat afterwards. Their galbi is pretty damn delicious when it comes to the soondubu side variety. It’s so tender and the balance of the sweet & saltiness is great.
