In Dunwoody Village, Dunwoody, Ga, there is a nice sandwich shop called Wrights Gourmet. As you enter, the smells of fresh sliced meat and freshly baked cakes excite your palette. With short waits, you are almost at the ordering station. Around you there is a casual, calm environment that feels like an old-time deli. Inside, mixed and matched chairs sit around oddly shaped tables that look like they carved themselves; there are circles with rough edges, rectangles out of proportion, and wacky carved bases. In addition, there is a large seating area outside overlooking the rest of Dunwoody Village. The setting inside might be a bit hectic at times with many people crowding to order the mouth watering specials; the outdoor setting is calm and peaceful. With many classics at Wrights Gourmet, a few really spoke to my palette.The classic turkey sandwich has two slices of pumpernickel, french, white, wheat, or sourdough bread with turkey sliced so thin you can see through it. Lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and any other of your preferences can be included. Personally, the pumpernickel is the best bread for my turkey sandwiches. The pillow-like bread with a hint of rye flavor sliced to the ideal thickness just melds the sandwich together perfectly. Then, the grilled cheese with chili on the side, how can you say no to that? The oozy, gooey cheddar cheese melting out of perfectly toasted white bread; it is just ready to dip into the chili that electrifies your mouth with spices. Together they make a killer combo! Get a pickle on the side and you are ready to go! The acidic pickle contrasts with the cheesy sandwich and warm chili to clear your palette and prepare for the next bite. There is also the Glendas Garden sandwich. This all vegetable alternative gives a new preference for those who want a lighter meal. Served with avocado, sprouts, tomato, cheese, and onions all on a healthy wheat bread; what could be better? Or would you rather have a salad? The turkey chef salad is delicious. Served with bright greens, the vibrance attracts your eyes right away. Little slices of turkey along with tomatoes, peas, cucumbers, cheese, and of course romaine lettuce. Also served with your choice of a dressing, the honey mustard gives it an extra kick of flavor along with a smooth finishing texture. Another one of my favorites at Wrights Gourmet is the Club sandwich. Three layers of bread stacked up with turkey, ham, lettuce, tomato, and bacon layered in between each one. The crispy bacon gives it a nice crunch, while creamy mayonnaise and mustard provide a silky sauce. To finish off the meal, you can purchase a piece of cake or cupcake from the bakery section. Their cupcakes are jumbo sized, moist, and have a sweet frosting on top to balance the flavor of the cake. With multiple flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, alpine, lemonade, and red velvet, the flavors taste like bites of Heaven! Not to mention that the assortment fits anyones preference. Overall, Wrights Gourmet is a family friendly environment with great food and service. Wrights Gourmet Shoppe Dunwoody Ga. So I go to get my huge christmas order and they had messed up the order. Because they didn’t have one item they let me choose another free of charge. Then I had to wait for them to complete the remainder of the order…..soooo…they in addition gave me a gift certificate for a cake of my choice! They more than made up for the issues and they were so busy so it’s understandable! They made this right! I didn’t ask for any of that…they volunteered! Great food (lemonade cake wonderful) and great customer service. We will remain customers and I recommend you try it. They have sandwiches and cakesa and fresh frozen homemade meals. Check it out!
One good. One not as good. Service excruciating. Ordered two sandwiches. blt was good, fine. ordered a roast beef something. It was cold by design. Took it home and it was better hot. Took forever to get the food. At least one other order was wrong while we sat in there. Exercise in futility to get out of there in under an hour. Food was ready sitting at the counter for minutes because one worker refused to call out the number, some other employee(who looked lost) was having to. Might go back, but my god at the service.
Really are gourmet sandwiches. Amazing. I didn’t know sandwiches could be so fancy. It was really unique and an excellent meal. I would suggest it for anyone.
Love this place! The mint flavored tea is excellent. The club is perefect. They need to have longer hours. Only time I can go is Saturday, which I look forward to all week.
