I’ve been wanting to go check this place out for a while now and I finally visited lastnight. They didn’t exactly have what I really wanted at that time but I did leave with a scone and a iced masala chai tea. The scone was probably the best scone I’ve ever had. It was just the right amount of hard on the outside and then soft and fluffy on the inside. And believe it or not, the chai tea was the best chai tea I’ve pretty much ever had. It was delicious. I really loved the decor and the feel of the place as well. I definitely am coming back but earlier so I can get the cream tea. I highly recommend checking Dr. bombay’s out.
Dirty, poor service, inedible food. Don’t waste your time or money. We had the Caroline tea. The quiche had burnt broccoli covering the top of it. The meringue was gummy and gross. The scone was edible, but not what a scone is supposed to be. The texture was soft like a sweet bread. There were no tables available inside…..all said they were reserved for 3:30, although we arrived at 1:00. We sat out back on the unkept patio. The tables were covered in bird poop and an overflowing ash tray. The only good thing was the pot of tea.
I should probably have gone for dessert. U looked at the menu online, but when I got there I realized that they prepare everything in advance and not everything that’s on the menu online. They didn’t have what I was hoping for and git a soysauge egg and cheese biscuit instead. Average. The soysauge was a little sweet for my taste. Their desserts looked very good. I’ll gave to try that in the future.
Great shop! I love their selection of teas, espescially the Moroccan peppermint. Have yet to try any of the baked goods, but they look enticing. Open mic might is in Wednesday and that’s super fun, but beware if you are trying to study it can be distracting. Great date place or study place
Love it!. I absolutely love this place! It’s such a cute, comfy shop with a great atmosphere. The customer service is excellent. And you can buy books for $1 and the proceeds go to The Learning Tea, which benefits girls in India. On Wednesdays they have open mic night, which is always fun to watch.
Coolest, funkiest coffee shop in town. Batdorf&Bronson (excellent) coffee; really good food and ice cream; excellent prices; and really funky surroundings, including lots of used books to browse and buy. I love how community-oriented Dr. Bombay’s is (the money from books goes to Mary Lin Elementary School; the tea they serve funds an education program in India). The place is delightfully shabby — maybe could use being just a tad less shabby.
I’m lucky to have it…. …in the neighborhood. I love walking down the street and grabbing a cup of daily brew. I went today and they had fresh scones–bigger than my fists. I got a fluffy cranberry and walnut and it was omg good–I’m reeling from it. Where else can you get a great baked good and a big cup of coffee for under $5? Maybe some other places but you definitely won’t get the friendly staff or comfortable atmosphere. Their baked goods change all the time–sometimes get cupcakes from Highland Bakery. They also make sandwiches and some other things that I’ve yet to try. Limited ice cream selection but solid choco and vanilla flavors.Lots of folks come in and use the free WiFi and hang out in the booths, couches or tables. Usually never packed except on Saturdays but it’s still great to come in and get something to eat or drink.DB’s also has a library–50c books of all kinds.
